Samplecell: Mach5 and/or Kontakt4

Post by AleCerto »

I've been a Samplecell user for a long time and I've done several SC instruments by myself with my own samples (SD2 and AIFF files with loops, etc.), but after the big jump to OSX I haven't used Samplecell any more (thanks Digi!?! :( )

I have now to "exhume" an old work of mine with lot of SC instruments: different DP and PT sessions/projects - for different tunes - that share the same SC instruments (easy stuff at that time...).

Mach5 reads SC instruments and samples (with an acceptable approximation) but it is not compatible with PT8 (and it is very slow on import...).

Since it's fully compatible with both PT and DP, I've tried Kontakt4 but:
1) It seems like it can handle only SC instruments with AIFF related samples (Kontakt4 can read SD2 samples but can't manage them if they are related to a SC instrument, strange but true...)
2) When Kontakt4 loads/converts SC instruments (with AIFF) it loses both the instrument related settings (i.e. ADSR, velocity, etc. - but I can redo them) and - mostly - the AIFF samples loops themselves.

To solve the first issue I can convert all the SD2 files into AIFF keeping the loops (could you suggest a good batch converter? Bias Peak?).

What about the second problem? I mean, losing all the loops of the AIFF files? Is there any way to let Kontakt4 read/import these loops?

Do you have any other suggestion and/or idea to use the same old SC instruments (as they are!) into both DP7 and PT8?
