Works much better! IMHO. (:

No more pauses/clicks/resyncs in WDM when HDD under heavy load.

Should all users update always to the new drivers? Or only if we are experiencing problems?

I've got those drivers. They came with my new UL hybrid 3 weeks ago and are dated 20.11.09. One month later than the previous downloadable version.

I cannot confirm less pauses/clicks/resync due to HDD issues because I don't know how bad it was before.

It's supposed to allow USB 2.0 connection as well as firewire but I haven't heard of anyone getting it to work yet. I certainly cannot.

Didn't work at all for my Motu MkII USB. If I managed to get some sound out it was distorted / crackled at best. I mostly got only "your audio driver stopped working" (from Reason).

Tried larger buffer sizes but it didn't help. Rolled back 3.6.8.1414
which works mostly ok (I have Windows XP 32-bit).

New driver had also 256 samples per buffer for my unit (for 96 kHz),
3.6.8.1414 has only 512.

The new driver does not work with 828 Mk2 USB2 and Windows XP 32bit.
Lots of noise and crackles.
I returned to the previous driver which works OK for me.
I left a technote at MOTU.

I'm running XP 32-bit and these drivers didn't work for me either. My whole computer got really slow and Cuemix would go unresponsive before it even opened. Windows media player wouldn't even play, it would freeze on "Opening data". I went back to 6.8.1414 and everything works great.

I should mention that my 896mk3 is running near flawlessly using the AVT 1394 driver and 6.8.1414 recording to a USB2 SATA drivebay. I often record my band's rehearsals, 15 tracks for almost 2 hours, no problem.

Do you think that motu is going to do new drivers because the 3.7.37320 doesn't work well? And when??

Strange that no one has posted up to say 'You lot must be n00bs I'm working fine on the new drivers with USB.

Seems like some, but not all, Mac users are experiencing similar problems.

I thought it might have been a problem related to the fact that the new UL hybrid needed these drivers but they had problems getting them to market on time and it was rushed. A very few units reached EU & UK users as scheduled early December but most retailers didn't have stock until the new year.

The UL came with this driver version # but dated 20.11.09. Trying to use them on USB induces kernel panic on my box although firewire works ok. Some non fatal anomalies when kMixer and ASIO interact is all.

I originally thought that since the product had been delayed and they obviously had new drivers but were not releasing them generally they had realised there was a problem and were going to fix it before continuing the roll out.

Since they have now put the 3.7.37320 drivers up with no comment you have to accept MOTU are happy with them after all. So I don't know what to do any more.

What about selling this semi-functioning piece of junk to some MOTU hyped audio n00b ? They work good for my MK3 ultralite under win7 & vista (basic functionallity), but the driver is still far from optimised. For example - CUEMIX console eats up resources in win 7 like crasy... It would be nice to see some changelogs in their releases !

hi all!
for me drivers are unacceptable. Unfortunately it is not the first time motu releases a new driver without complete testing. unfortunately another buggy driver release. this time 828 sounds totally distorted.
system:828 mk2 usb, asus p5e3, intel quad 6600, 2g ram, windows7 ult 32bit, in a fresh formatted hard drive.
after 3 years of motu product use, i remain unsatisfied (considering what the product specs are) and disappointed.
cheers

I've gone from Vista 64 to Win 7 64 and it seem I have more random BSOD. That's the growing pains of a new OS. When it is up the sound is fantastic, but I never know when it's going to take a dump. The drivers and the OS aren't very stable. It still beats my EMU for quality and update attempts. But what do you want for something designed for a Mac and running on Windows.

i want motu to work as it should be, otherwise they should put a sticker indicating''only for mac''. this would be an honest thing, leading us to other reliable projects made by professionals. btw it is not a win7 problem, it is an old bug story since xpsp1 and on

Would these work for an original motu ultralite?

If you have an original Ultralite, the general consensus seems to be that the most stable drivers are the 3.6.7.3, and the 3.6.7.4 version.
