dae & Pro Tools really broken?

Post by n2mpujack »

Is the marriage of Pro Tools and DP via dae really broken? Over on the DUC a user posted that if PT 8.0.3 is on the computer and DP7.1 is installed dae will work. Look at post 15 in this thread:
http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?p=1537138
He paraphrases the installer for DP7.1
Edit for additional:
Just checked over on the MOTU site and it says in the what's new section for DP7.1 that it is compatible with PT 8.0.3, but if you go to the system requirements item in Tech Notes it says DP7 and PT 8.0.3 and dae are a no-go. Conflicting info or hasn't MOTU gotten around to updating all the Tech Notes? And the date on the Tech Note for the DP7 info is today (January 19, 2010).

That was my post on DUC, and no it's not broken, at least not in DP7.1 and PT 8.0.3. MOTU states that DP7.1 supports 8.0.3.
I have DP7.1 and DAE 8.0.3 up and running right now, it works great, in fact it's better because now the sync/tempo issue with VI is resolved.

I knew it was your post - I just posted here wondering if there were any others trying to do the same thing. One user's success or failure doesn't mean much; it's when others try it and it works that it becomes significant. FWIW I truly hope this will really work for the masses and that Avid/Digi acknowledges it. Quite frankly I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned at NAMM by either company (MOTU or Avid/Digi). Now if only TC would get decent drivers for the Powercore I'd be in hog heaven.

Well I dove in, maybe someone else is willing to give it try as well.
