Connecting 2 8pres to an 896mk3
I have successfully had an 8pre connected to my 896mk3 via adat lightpipe providing me total 16 inputs. I recently got another 8pre and connected up via adat to the adat b connection on the 896 and noe I hear a pusing sound coming from my speakers. I think it is a synchronization issue but I cant seem to figure it out. They all are operating at 44. How can I get all 3 of these to play nicely together so I get 24 inputs, 8 via firewire and 16 via adat lightpipe, without the hissing pulsating noise??

Clock both 8pres from the 896 by using an ADAT litpipe from the 896 to each 8pre and slaving the 8pres to the 896 clock.

Sounds great, thanks you for the reply! Now how do I do that?
I would imagine I need to conenct each 8pre via firewire and make some changes in the settings but I am unsure which changes need to be made so that they will be slaved to the 896 clock.

I think you would find this in the Motu Audio Setup program, set clock to internal on the 896 tab.

Also in the Motu Audio Setup program, set clock to optical on the 2 pre's tab.
and connect via optical 896's out to both 8 pre's in.
