DP7.02-Snow Leopard and Inspector XL
I am a bit late to the game in catching up with this whole RNDigital demise or debacle or what ever it is. I have also recently purchased a Mac Pro 2,93Ghz Quad "Nehalem" Xeon. I have been a long time user of Inspector XL all the way back to Elemental Audio. I rely on it greatly in all my projects as well as my mastering projects.
Question is this: I have read of people saying that it does not work in Snow Leopard. Being in the middle of a large project, I can not put up my Mac Pro yet to find out for myself. Can some of you please verify if it (inspector XL) is, or is not working in Snow Leopard and DP 7.02.
Also and if not, what are the best options for metering plugins. I see Sweetwater has the Waves Dorrough Meters for $249.00 until the end of December. I don't use Waves and would love to keep it that way but who knows, I am looking for good options and also hoping that Inspector XL still works.
Thanks for any help, guidance and info.
Peace!

Re: DP7.02-Snow Leopard and Inspector XL
I've used it many times in Snow Leopard. I don't know if there was a particular version combination that failed, but mine has always been current, and Inspector XL has worked completely. Mine is the last version that EA put out after announcing the sale of their product line to Roger Nichols, so it's the last one before RN got hold of them. I've been told that RN's versions did not work as well, but I have no proof of that. Meanwhile, mine is still puttering along. I love the customizability of the main meters that I use all the time. (can't think of their names, but you can make them appear just about any way you want them to.)
Here's a readout from one in which all colors are customized within the plugin itself. Only the extra writing was added in photoshop. The chromatic clash makes the graph appear 3-D.

But you never bought into Roger Nichols' version in the name of staying current? Or did you?Shooshie wrote:I... but mine has always been current, and Inspector XL has worked completely. Mine is the last version that EA put out after announcing the sale of their product line to Roger Nichols....
Inquiring hobbits all over the place want to know!

That's the impression I got-- and from you and I have casually chatted about, the original version was the bees' knees (still is for me).

Thanks guys. I went on over to the dark side and converted to the RNDigital versions after EA with the auth on my iLok. I don;t know the versions off hand but I guess I'll hope for the best and report back after I get my Mac Pro Running.

Nope, no RN here. Just EA. Still working.

Re: DP7.02-Snow Leopard and Inspector XL
I have the RND models (DP 6.03; OS 10.5.7) but I'm thinking about switching to Blue Cat Audio's Analysis Pack, which consists of:
Digital Peak Meter Pro
FreqAnalyst Multi
FreqAnalyst Pro
Oscilloscope Multi
StereoScope Multi
StereoScope Pro

Nice stuff.

Re: DP7.02-Snow Leopard and Inspector XL
I need a vertical meter which Blue Cat doesn't have.
