Macbook Pro, DP6 & 24 channels ????

Post by BLISS »

I am contemplating getting a MacBook Pro 17", I currently run DP6 on a dual 1.25 with a 2408 mkII connected to a DM-24 digital mixer.

How would it be possible to connect the MacBook Pro to see my 24 Channels:

Go firewire out of the mixer into the MacPro firewire 400/800 ? bypassing the 2408?
Does the (PCIe) card allow connectivity to and from the MacPro to 2408 & DM-24 ?

I am unclear on how I could use the MacBook Pro to achieve 24 ch.

Set up now is: DM-24 TDIF 1,2,3 into 2408mkII, and my PCI-324 card inside the dual, back to the 2408mkII. Since I like the ability to touch faders in front of me, how would I get this method using the MacBook Pro. What would I need to make this happen.

Appreciate the input :D

Sounds like the only hurdle would be the PCI-324. With an MBP, one solution would be use a firewire interface in place of the 2408 to link DP to your mixer.

You might want to take a look at the Apogee Symphony Mobile system which takes advantage of the MBP's card bus slot for up to 32 channels.
