Best way to speed up a song before mastering... ?
I just mixed a track at 75 bpm and i need it to be 77-78bpm.
Which is the best way to time stretch it a bit without ANY artifacts?
Thanks...

I prefer to just raise the house clock rate and dump it again ( I don't mix in the box though - real time multi track play back from the DAW through a desk to the 2 track mastering/ mix down station.
If the pitch positively CAN'T be raised when you speed up the tempo then you have to remix it... I assume you did this via MIDI tracks and a DAW, so change your tempo - MIDI will not be an issue but audio tracks can get confusing if they are pieces that start here and end there, then a punch here out there..... merge and make them ALL the same length / start time then let your DAW chew on them and see how they sound sped up. If it flies, you're done, if it Alvin Chipmunks, re-cut it

I would talk to the mastering guy, they do this all the time.
There's no way I'd use any timestretching. I'd go to tape and back or do it like glammachia said.
You could also edit the whole thing to a faster tempo, chop it up and move all the pieces to the new tempo. I've done this a lot, it's time consuming but can sound really good.

I felt like I was repeating myself! My memory is so crappy that I'm never sure.zed wrote:More ideas here...HooVoo wrote:Which is the best way to time stretch it a bit without ANY artifacts?

At least I didn't contradict myself. Close one.

Ha!! I hadn't noticed that. Your responses were almost the same!bongo_x wrote:I felt like I was repeating myself! My memory is so crappy that I'm never sure.

Pretty difficult to contradict yourself when you are this clear on your response to a topic!

Not sure how helpful this statement is. What exactly did you try? What else was included in the group "all"? I'm perfectly willing to accept the possibility that Propellerhead software does some great time stretching, but unless we know what other products or methods you tried then I'm not going to be rushing out to buy Record. Please elaborate if you have the time.HooVoo wrote:ps. tried them all... the best was---> Record by Propellerhead, believe it or not!
