Motunation NAMM Dinner!
Welcome back, my friends to the show that never ends...
It was 13 years ago today,
Les Q taught the group how to play
They've been going in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile.
So may I introduce to you
The group you've known for all these years,
the Fabulous MOTU NAMM Dinner Party!
I just wanted to take a minute to remind everyone about the upcoming MOTU NAMM Dinner!
It is Friday Jan. 15, 2010, 7:00p, The El Torito Restaurant (where else?) 2020 E. Ball Rd., Anaheim, CA 92806.
For those attending NAMM, we meet at the MOTU booth around 5:45p friday afternoon so that anyone who needs a ride to the dinner can get one. Anyone who doesn't know who I am can just walk up to the handsome guy in a suit standing around the MOTU booth and say "Hi Jim!" That will probably be Jim Cooper, and he can point you towards me.
This will be our 13th annual dinner, and each year they seem to get bigger and better! The swag this year will of course be very cool and maybe even functional (not sure yet). There are even rumors of manufacturer gift swag! I said rumors...
This is our chance to show & tell the hard working MOTU guys & gals how much we appreciate all their hard work over the past year.
As usual, this is a "no host" affair. What this means: we each pay our own way, plus a little extra to cover our honored guests, the MOTU guys. As it turns out, their Cambridge dollars are no good out here on the left coast. Often we get a guest appearance from some plugin developers as well.
You do not have to be a NAMM attendee to go to the dinner, you can bring a friend, date, or anyone you would like.
Here's the W,W,W,W,W:
Who: You + the tragically hip MOTU guys
What: Dinner, cocktails, SWAG!
When: Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 7:00pm
Where: El Torito Restaurant, 2020 East Ball Road, Anaheim, CA 92806 (714) 956.4880
Why: Why? Because we like you!
Please respond to this message as an RSVP. It's always good to get a head count for the restaurant.
Hope to see you there!

Re: Motunation NAMM Dinner!
By the way, I must add that if you attend, keep track of what you ordered and make sure you give Jim enough cash before you leave to cover your meal, margaritas, and a little extra to cover the MOTU guys that attend. In the past, we've had shortfalls that had to be covered. Also, I might add that if you come, we all talk shop a bit, but the MOTU guys that come are our guests and they may not mind answering a question or two, but this isn't the place to press them on your tech support issue or pet peeve. I know I shouldn't HAVE to say that... but just in case.
We do have a lot of fun. Every year El Torito sets aside a separate room for our group and we usually have a good turn out. Please RSVP as Jim requested so he has an idea of the turnout!

Wish I could be there. I mean, to talk about their women! And to get their opinions about Logic's ability to blow your nose and shine your shoes. When's DP gonna do THAT? Huh?
Just joking [badly], of course, but I really DO wish I could be there.

Re: Motunation NAMM Dinner!
FYI, for all that are interested, I made a page about the dinner here:
http://www.motunation.com/motumacdinner
It has the location and time as well as a list of some of the plug-in developers that have said they will show up as well as some of the planned swag for the event. A copy of the menu is also there.
Please don't post the list of developers in this thread or details of this page as it my change and I'd rather make sure others only get their information from this official page. Thanks!

Re: Motunation NAMM Dinner!
Who RickRolled the invite? I clicked the link, which clearly says http://www.motunation.com/motumacdinner, but instead I get this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK2tWVj6lXw
Or James, are you saying that Rick's going to be the entertainment at the dinner? Perhaps you'll be giving away RickRoll CD's? This is really weird that a link can be hijacked like this.
I inspected the link, and there is nothing odd about it. But paste it into my URL field, and immediately it says the "top hit" is that YouTube page with the red-headed guy singing and dancing like disco never went out. (which I guess it didn't)
The switch is happening either in the DNS lookup system, or on my computer. Is everyone else seeing that page when they click that link? Please don't tell me I've got some kind of virus that's going to turn links into RickRoll pages.
Well, whatever. I say MoTuna! MoTuna! MoTuna(tion)!

Shoosh

No prob James. I thought maybe it was a joke, but I kinda thought it may possibly have been a bad link also, although a link to Rick Astley? That's gotta be a little joke...
