connect 2408 to 896hd ?
Hi there, I've had a look around both here and other places to see if it is possible to connect the Firewire out of a 2408 to the 896hd's firewire in. I've been offered a working 2408 at a decent price, but it doesn't come with a pci card. I'd be very happy to add 8 more channels if it were possible

Nope. Doesn't work on it's own without the PCI card iirc. The rack is just a bunch of converters. The PCI card provides the means to control those converters.
