We didn't know that he was getting even perpetually, day by day, night by night, until we got under the pianos to move some microphones into better positions and adjust their cables to fit.

I think my friend Ariel and I both stuck our hands in it at the same time. On our knees, reaching for a big coil of cable, we found it soaking in a sticky, yellow, semi-crystalized fluid. It reeked like a junior-high-school restroom. Worse. The cat had been systematically targeting every cable under those pianos. It was such an incredible mess that we had to disconnect everything, haul the cables outside, tape up the ends and hose down the cables in the back yard. It took forever. Shooshie
Ooooh...bad cat!

I've had similar assaults on cabling as well and, unfortunately, I can't lock the cat(s) out of the studio due to the open design of the house. Nor, after all these years, can I suddenly decree that they are now "outside cats".

So it's up to me do be aware and preventative especially from now on.

By any chance, are we talking about the cat on the left of your posts?

When my Iguana was a baby, she was very adventurous. She enjoyed escaping from her big cage and exploring every spot in my room.
Once, I turned on the TV, and the Cable modem wouldn't power on. I took it for repair, and they just exchanged it.
But a week later the same thing happened. The modem was on top of the TV, and the TV was over a big piece of furniture. The room had cork on all the walls, BTW.
I finally figured out what happened when I saw my Iguana on top of the modem, placidly resting and absorbing its heat. She could CLIMB those cork walls!!! And she found this GREAT spot that was comfortable and warm. Turns out, she was so comfortable and warm that she decided to pee right on it. It has all these vent spaces, so her pee ruined yet another modem. Besides, and sorry for sounding disgusting, Iguanas do both things at once (pee and poo), kind of like chickens :?

It was so funny to see her there, on top... so innocent. She really had no idea that her droppings were a danger for electrical equipment.... eeeeewwwwww... Iguana pee... all sticky and smelly :)

The cable company figured it out, just like I did, so they charged me for the third cable modem unit.

And I haven't even mentioned what happens to all the furniture when it meets her nails as she climbs over everything she can find.

Pets! I love how much mutual joy they can give. Even when they do dumb things like this.

Not the cat in my avatar, but very close in looks.

I really miss not having a cat around though

See, we (humans) do not own cat(s). The Cat adopts you, to its(he, her) degree they prefer. :D

I'm safe, cuz my studio is in a detached converted garage
Now if I can only curtail our 7 feline requirements of attention, food, liter, water etc etc. :x

That statement is so true. LOL

I have deciphered some of the cat language; meow is me now, reah is rub my head, purr is I am so digging this, hiss is stop it now or your going to get it, hiss is also hay other cat your in my turf, reeaoow hiss! I really mean it.

The cat that did all the climbing on things died not long ago, she was a sweet hart and I miss her.

I put a door between the music room and the part of the house we live in so I can close the door. I liked to let the cats hunt for mice so I let the roam around some times.

We have a somewhat different house; it is not like the Mc mansions as are some of the larger homes out here. The house was an orphanage and once had over 20 kids here, we live in half of it and the other half has extra bedrooms, my wife’s art room and the music room, ECT. The room we use as a music room was the family room and it is 30 feet by 30 feet with high ceilings, this was one of the selling points of the place for me and the 21+ acres that came with it did not hurt; I can crank it up and no one hears it. The Buddhists were trying to turn this place into a woman’s Buddhist retreat and were having a hard time getting the property changed to church tax exempt. Some day I will put a Buda on one of the trails in honor of them. The owners wanted to sell as they were in the middle of building an orphanage in Mexico so we go a good deal on it. I have been doing a lot of work fixing the place up but hopefully after a year or so I will be done for a time.
