Very surreal to see a 6.03 update, but maybe this indicates MOTU hasn't abandoned us 6 users just yet? No problems with 6.03 on my MacBook 2 GHz running Tiger 4.11. I sure wish MOTU would start programming their updates to actually UPDATE the existing software, rather than create a new version that co-exists with the old one. I kind of understand why they do it, but dammit, just commit to the update!!! I'll be giving it a full test drive soon ...
mhschmieder wrote:In other words, it allows tracks of different sample rates to coexist in the same project, which 6.02 didn't (on my machine, at least -- though it did support mixing 16-bit files and 24-bit files of the same sample rate).
DP's been able to do this since 5. In fact, I did this by accident in 5 without realizing I had recorded and mixed 16-bit files inside of a project set up for 24-bit/96 kHz. In 5, you have to set up your soundbite/sample prefs independently of your project sample rate/bit depth. I assumed that, like most DAWs, when your project is set to a certain bit-depth/sample rate, that's what it's recording at. No such luck. Everything was being recorded at 16-bits and being upconverted on mixdown, resulting in an entire slew of lousy-sounding cues (a film score, in which I was just printing reverbs and effects straight from the VIs via track freezing, or putting an insert effects after certain VIs, so even the FX and faders were being printed at 16-bits!) before I realized what was happening. While it's neat that you can juggle different sample rates and bit depth, sometimes, it's nice to have a program warn you that something doesn't match ...

You are right it is great humor. But, humor put except for ace, have you a solution at my first question? Because, that would be humor which I will appreciate.

The reality is that MOTU has limited resources and most of the people here are happy that DP works at least in English. You have to choose where to direct your resources: to support multiple languages or "optimize and enhance" (in MOTU speak) the core functionality.

Ok I understand this, but I'm an user of Performer since the version 2 and I never saw a software which did not function correctly on a Mac System French or Others !! This is a bug of DP7 and Motu does not do anything to regulate it!!
it's not normal to pass a system in another language to use a software on a Mac (resources or not).

Legodo, it is regrettable that this is happening, but I assure you that it is not due to a bias against the French. I have no idea why it has happened, but there are always bugs somewhere. Please; call MOTU or email them or better still, start a tech note at their website's technical support.

Very sorry it's happening to you. Rest assured that some of us still love France. It's one of the few great countries on this planet.

mhschmieder wrote:Tonio, take a look at my system specs.

This might be one of those times when one should caution, "Don't try this at home", but years of experience have taught me that most system requirements are very conservative and assume the user has other things going on at the time they are using their program.

I learned a long time ago how to maximize the performance of my always-inadequate (since the day I bought it) computer.

This past weekend, I finished mixing and mastering a ten-song project (ten sequences/chunks), each of which had on average around sixteen to twenty tracks, and most tracks having on average three plug-ins. I did do stem submixes to keep the plug-in count down at any given time, though.

I think whether DP 7.02 would work on your system has a lot to do with the way you work, more than actual system specs.

I am finding DP7 to be leaner than DP6 in its resource usage, and I have a larger degree of confidence that I won't have a crash during a session than in DP 6.02. And even DP 6.02, on my system, was a step up from DP 5.x.
wow, that's great news my friend, thank u... it is worth to try..., I'll do it a.s.a.p., thanx for the info... anyway I really need to upgrade my computer soon cause I record/mix songs with an average of 35 tracks, sometimes less but sometimes more, I've gone as far as 52 tracks sometimes, and my G5 pulling the sweat and all but hanging on... a lot of beachballs though, that gets on my nerve but she's holding tight

Thank you very much Shooshie ,I'm also really sorry of this dispute, because my dream would be to visit the USA ,country which I admire.
I love DP and I hope that Motu read these some lines so that they regulate this problem quickly.
I send us an email, but no answer, and therefore I address myself to this super forum.
Thank you still for your nice answer and the music lives on DP!!
Thank you very much my friend.
Sorry for my bad English !!

Your 'bad English' is a lot better than my non-existent French. Non?
