I'm going to be recording a high school jazz band session over the weekend. Normally I would use my Onyx 1640 board, but it's in the shop. I have an 896HD, and the school has a Digi 002R. I'm trying to figure out what is the best way (if there is a way) to use the two interfaces together with DP 5.13 on a MacBook Pro.
I can see three possible approaches to this:
1) slave one of the units to the other through the ADAT connection.
2) daisy-chain the two boxes via FW and create an aggregate device in CoreAudio.
3) record through the two units in parallel, to two different machines (the music department has PTLE set up on their own iMac), and then import the PT audio files into DP and hope they line up.
Will any of these work? Which would you try? Thanks for your help.

Re: 896HD + Digi 002R? Best way?
If the DIGI has an optical ADAT out, I route the digi into the 896HD through ADAT and slave the DIGI's word clock to the 896HD.
so in DP you can manage everything from the 896HD. No need for aggregate device.
