I was just about to post this, with discussion of the wider implications:

----------------------------------

TC Electronic has announced the release of the M30 Studio Reverb plug-in for Windows and Mac OS X in VST and AU effect plug-in formats. If you act quickly you can get it for free - it's available for $0.00, by signing up for the TC Electronic Newsletter, until Wednesday 18th November, 2009, after then it'll cost $79. This is a non-expiring and fully functional plug-in.

M30 Studio ReverbThe M30 Studio Reverb is a simple to use reverb that is powered by AlgoFlex - a new high definition TC technology that enables hardware quality and predictability to be ported to native software.

Features:

* Hall: M30 is derived from the popular M40 reverb that ships with all TC Electronic audio interfaces. The sound of M30 takes the same Hall reverb algorithm that's found in the M40 (alongside Room and Plate algorithms).
* Pre Delay: Whether you work with vocals or instruments, the M30 Studio Reverb will add a broad and warm reverb to your sound. Use the pre delay to separate the source from the reverb tail.
* Decay: M30 preserves the natural characteristics of the original source, which gives you an authentic large sound. Use the decay parameter to adjust the length of the reverb diffuse field.
* Hi Color: The sound of M30 is perfectly suited to vocals, but it can also be used with a wide variety of instruments and audio material. Hi Color varies the "color" of the reverb. From dark to crisp and bright, the Color parameter can really change the characteristics and style of the reverb.
* Mix: The Mix parameter obviously sets the wet/dry mix. Use the convenient 100% knob when working with the reverb as parallel effect.

-------------------

The important point that I take away from this is that TC Electronic is re-entering the arena of native plug-ins.

Can native ports, or variations, of some of the Powercore plug-ins be far behind?

I wondered the same thing... Over the long term, systems like Powercore and UAD won't be able to keep up with native processing so if TC is behind UA they may be making a bit of a jump now.

Anyway... thanks Yiannis for the heads up!

how do I put the reverb in DP ?

Simply click on the installer follow the prompts and it does the rest (not with DP open of course) then the next time you open DP it will scan it and your away.

Well It's not a bad verb at all, and quite different to anything else I have, so I'm happy.

When I opened DP7 it looked at it and it works fine. It's sound is different than my other verbs so it is a good addition. 8)

It installs on my G5, and the Finder says that it's a Universal Binary, but it just doesn't show up in the AU scan for DP or Logic. Shows up fine on my Intel iMac, so it must be a PPC SNAFU.

The word from the 'slutz is that it isn't PPC-friendly, and that it could cause problems with your system to even install it. I'll probably save mine (once downloaded) on my backup disc and wait for a new computer.

The algos are apparently from M40(?) which gets shipped with Konnekt6 or one of their hardware i/o units.

It's still significant that they are planning on SELLING a native plug-in, even if some have been packaged with audio interfaces before.

Yes, the ppc version must be broken but the VST is working fine with a wrapper
