MIDI Learn / Controller Mapping

Post by solar »

Was wondering if DP6 or even DP7 have a MIDI learn function, such as Live and Logic? I am using POD Farm and would like to be able to use my POD X3 Live to control it when recording. For whatever reason Line 6 didn't give it MIDI capabilities in Plug-In Mode so I need a way to map the parameters. I have been able to do it in Live and Logic with their MIDI learn functions, but can't figure it out in DP. Not sure if it even has one.

Thanks.

Having used Live and Logic for the total time of 2 minutes, I can't say if the DP "learn" is anywhere remotely like those you're used to. However, DP 7 (and 6) does have a Commands menu item where you click on the command you want to control via MIDI and then you can either type in the command, or in the case of a MIDI controller, send the command and DP will "learn" it.

However, your problem isn't the MIDI learn, it's mapping the parameters from the POD and then having DP controlling it from MIDI. Can't say any version of DP will expose the POD parameters for MIDI control. Maybe ask MOTU if it can do it or not.

Well I just started on Logic. Digital Performer is my main DAW but I have been trying to stream line my set up. I like that I can pretty much have a sound that I use in my X3 Live and then via POD Farm import that exact sound when it's time to record. I'll have to check the commands thing out. I really hope that DP comes out with something like that, especially for companies like Line 6 that don't have MIDI learn in there plug-ins or a way to set up cc messages in their gear.

Thanks for the help.
