Hello fellow MOTUer's, any help would be greatly appreciated,
I'm having trouble trying to install the Ultralite mk3 for the first time. I'm running Windows XP sp3
and I have a PCI firewire card with the TI chipset.
When I tried using the included installation CD, no installation instructions popped up as stated in the manual. Instead, a window popped up displaying the contents of the CD. No big deal, figured I can browse the CD and find where the driver install is. Problem is, there is no "readme" file on the disc to explain the different installs included, and the filenames themselves are not very descriptive, so I was at a loss for which one to run.
So, at this point I've tossed the CD aside and figured I'd just download the latest drivers off the MOTU website. As far as I can tell, it's the "32fw.zip" download that needs to be installed, which are the drivers for "32-bit Firewire and USB 2 Audio".
Question #1: Am I correct in assuming "32fw.zip" is the only file I need to download and install to get my Ultralite mk3 working?
Assuming these were the correct drivers, I installed them, shut down my PC, plugged in the Ultralite mk3, and turned it on, hoping it was all done. However, upon starting up, Windows gave me the "Found new hardware" window and gave me the driver search options. I cancelled out of this window, since the manual says I'm not supposed to get this window. Unfortunately, this means I am now stuck.
Questtion #2: Could there be something else about my setup that is keeping this from working? Are the drivers compatible with service pack 3, or do I need to re-install with only service pack 2?
Regards,
Mike DLP

Re: Ultralite mk3 XP driver installation issues
I have a similar problem as Mike DLP when installing. I have Windows XP SP2 and when instaling the driver Windows says the driver has not passed the Windows XP aproval, that it might cause hardware malfunction and system unstability, and it does happens indeed.
Not to say that I run Ableton Live and it gets frozen, there's no sound, and it can't play anything. I contacted MOTU thru my user account and I'm waiting for a response. I contacted my local hardware providor but doesn't seem so helpful, I know it will get fixed, but I wonder what's happening and what should I do.
Do you have any idea..?
Thx.
