I'm trying to finally learn how to use my gear including Sonar and my 828mk3.
My system is basically:
Windows vista 64
Motu 828mk3 (64 bit drivers)
2 x Motu MTP AV (USB)
Sonar 8.5.1, latest patch
Rapture 1.2.1 latest patch
Load the example "Dark European Space Adventures"
Change all references to Rapture64LE to the full Rapture plugin, (actually, it doesn't matter it fails either way)
Send the master buss to a MOTU output
At time stamp 36:02, Sonar fails with this message:
"A fatal error has occurred.
Module c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins\Rapture\Rapture.dll
A crash dump file has been created here:
...
Exception code: c00000005
Address: (big number with lots-o-zeros)
As a result of this error SONAR is about to exit abnormally.
Should SONAR attempt to save a recovery copy of your work?"
It doesn't crash when I don't send an output to the 828mk3; if I select "none" for example. It works if I turn off the 828 and use the internal audio card/drivers I also confirmed it occurs whether or not I enable the "WaveRT" option for the MOTU interface.
Any ideas? It seems to be a Rapture v. MOTU thing. I hate to have spent the money for Rapture, SONAR, and the 828 for nothing.

Re: MOTU 828mk3 v. Cakewalk "Rapture" plugin
It sounds like you have a DLL "dynamic link library" error. programs and drivers can reuse or even overwrite your dlls. Reboot your computer and go to the run menu and type in Drwatson then hit ok/enter. now try to get it to crash again. Drwatson can tell you why it crashed. If that does not work then disable the built in sound on your bios and uninstall the other sound card's drivers. You might want to uninstall the motu's drivers and reinstall them too just to be safe. I hope I can help.
Re: MOTU 828mk3 v. Cakewalk "Rapture" plugin
Thanks for the advice Saxby86.
It is looking more and more like a Sonar v. 64 bit problem. Sonar produces a mini dump file which I have sent to Cakewalk at their request and they are looking into it. I have since found that there is no crash with the 32 bit versions. There are other Sonar users with a "Rapture" virtual instrument crash who are not using MOTU equipment. For the moment, I am assuming it is a Sonar issue.
Thank you again.
