Hate to admit it, but I missed your *private* message there Frodo. Hence, you are awarded two points: one for topicality, and a second for pun undetected. Well done!

I propose a new word for Webster's: Pundetected. But does it mean
1) An undetected play on words; or 2) Sleuthful discovery of hidden double entendre; or 3)??? This word appears to be a joke in and of itself, much like my all-time fave, "Mispronounciation" and its sibling, "Mispronunce."

My respected Dec. 14th friend--- I cannot for the life of me figure out what you might have missed!! What undetected pun could have ever gotten by Sir Markus Bravus?

Me-thinks you misunderestimate yourself, my good friend!

Suffice it to say, no hobbit will ever misunderestimate a Sir Markus.

I'm glad this convention still stands.

I first had to learn the correct terminology back in the mid-80's, if not slightly sooner, and it was exactly as stated in the snippet from the OP.

What I didn't know, however, was that the Brits lagged us Americans in this usage distinction.

I'm pretty sure the Romance Language countries use "disque" for both categories, but certainly at least for optical media. I looked it up quickly but didn't find an answer. Not curious enough (or free enough) at the moment to delve further.

So is it Disc Jockey or Disk Jockey. I've seen both spellings for DJs. I assume the term came from vinyl discs/disks.
