1 more wish for 7.1

When you add marker you can title it while you are recording.
That would very human!

Dude-- keep your wishes for 7.1 in the same thread so that they're easier for us to keep up with. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal now, but your two threads are going to get separated over the next few days and eventually they will be hard to keep up with.

The consideration you mentioned is probably more related to OSX than DP. You can add markers on the fly. If they appear expectant you *could* re-name on the fly, but there might be those whose attentions would be focused elsewhere on the fly... like on listening to the track. I don't know that everyone would want to "always" be concerned with renaming tracks while listening to them.

You can always name them with Option-Click if you wanted, whether on the fly or not. I've set a key command to add markers on the fly, but I'll go back later to actually name them. Some things just take more than an instant to put into place.... like marker names. Some people may not want DP to sit and wait by default for the user to put in a specific name on the fly. If I'm listening to a take I don't want to have to type in a memorable marker name at that very moment, but I'm glad to be able to put in a general marker while listening. It's kind of a different mindset-- listening vs "anything else". I can always go back and rename all the markers in less than minute, but at least my attention is not divided during playback.

Yeah. Hopefully James or Shooshie catch this thread and merge it with the other one, or just delete it.

I would HATE it if I had to name a marker each time I add one. I really LOVE the fact I can add them on the fly while I watch the QT and not be annoyed by having to name them as I add them. I usually have to go back to them eventually anyway to edit them and fine-tune them, and give them parameters, so that's the perfect moment to name them.

Let's keep the wishing in the other thread then.

Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

The ability to do this has been in DP for a while (since DP 5?) — search the commands list for "Add Marker & Edit Options."

Carrythebanner is right. Go search the commands window for Add Marker and Edit options.
I remapped control-m to this command and it works great.

Guys search no more...
There are two useful commands in the command window:
- Add Marker ( simply adds a marker)
- Add Marker and Edit Options ( adds a marker and show dialog for you to input the name you want for it)

Hope that's what the O-P was looking for.
