song causes crash

Post by scott dansby »

So it's finally getting to the point where I am doing my final tweaking in order to send my songs out to be master. I have just tried to open some of my songs and a couple of them are giving me trouble. Before they load they crash. The first thing I did to fix this is try to open these projects in MIDI mode. That did not help. Then I trashed my preferences and reopened DP. My Audio Unit scan yielded one corrupt program that wasn't loaded. I hoped this may have fixed the problem but it did not. Then I tried opening a new project and then loading my existing song into it. What should I do?
I am using DP 6.02 on a Mac G5 running tiger version 10.4.11, and a MOTU 896 HD.
Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0, Motu 896 HD, DP 6, Event 20/20, Reason 4, Ableton 5, AT 4050, Line 6 Pod, Rhodes Mark 1, Roland Juno 106, Arturia Analog Factory, Korg Pad Kontrol, Ampeg Gemini, Fender Twin, mics and pedals.....

Are you saying that it still crashed in MIDI only mode?

Tim it crashes when I turn it to MIDI mode. I can change it to MIDI mode before I open a project or while I have a project open and the results will be the same; crash, crash, crash.

Not good.

Does it crash even before doing anything (hit Play, etc.)?

Tim it was crashing before the song could load. I called tech support today and was able to work out the problem. You probably already know, but what they suggested, was that I hold the option key down while I was loading DP. This allowed me to load just the MOTU supported in the safe mode. Then I went to DP preferences and was able to turn on the plugins individually. This step allowed me the chance to see what plugin was causing the problem and not load it. Problem solved. Thank you for following up with these questions. :)

Yeah... but I didn't think plugins would have an effect in MIDI only mode.

What plug was it?
