PCI 424 Installation Help on Vista
Ok I downloaded the driver for vista 32 bit. I install the driver, shut down and install the card in the PCI slot. Windows starts and says it found hardware and fails to find the drivers. The readme said that once i turned my machine on with the card in place, it would automatically recognize the card and install it. I've tried many times and this has not worked. I've also tried installing the driver with the card in place and still it didn't work. I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled many times. How do i get vista to recognize the soundcard?

First: Are you sure you have the 32bit version of Windows?
Second: Unpack the zip file first (don't run the setup from within the zip!). Then right click on the setup and choose "Run as administrator" Follow the onscreen steps and after installation reboot your computer.
Windows should install the driver automatically now. You don't really need to unplug the card from your motherboard every time. It should work with the card already installed. Good luck!

Re: PCI 424 Installation Help on Vista
Yeah I've done all of that though and still no luck at all. I noticed after I reboot my computer and windows finds new hardware at startup it calls in just a "PCI Device" and tries to locate drivers and install. Shouldn't it call it a PCI-424 or something less generic? I'm guessing it doesn't know what the PCI Device actually is, thus it wont install. That's all I can really think of because I've tried installing this so many times.

Hmm, strange. Do you have more PCI slots available? If so, try one of the other slots.wadec91 wrote:Yeah I've done all of that though and still no luck at all. Do you maybe have another computer around somewhere? If so, try to install the card there and see if it works. Windows gets the Device ID from the card, so it knows which driver to install, so it's quite strange it doesn't recognize the card at all...
Maybe the card is faulty...? I have no suggestions left I'm afraid...

Yeah none of that seems to be working, thanks anyways though. Anyone else have any ideas? I really wanna get this working.
Re: PCI 424 Installation Help on Vista
I get sort of the same thing on my new system too. I can get my Vista to load the PCI 424 drivers, but when I install my MOTU MIDI drivers afterwards, I get the error reported above. I did not have this problem with Vista on my previous PC.

Just doing a bit of troubleshooting here.
What model of the card are each of you using, PCI or PCIe ?
I have the PCI.

Re: PCI 424 Installation Help on Vista
Problem solved.
My PCI-424 card was the original, not the PCIx or PCIe. The original PCI card is not compatable with some newer systems as noted on the MOTU Website. I took a gamble and bought the PCIe version and I am now up and running. Check the link below to see what version you have:
