Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
I just tried something else that is of interest...
I have 2, existing users on my system that I pulled into SL using Migration Assistant... Previously I created a fresh, test user, in SL and was able to launch DP and I just decided to try launching DP from the secondary user that I pulled in and lo and behold, DP lives!!!
So this issue I am facing is endemic to my primary user account. However I have deleted everything I can think of that is unique there and still no solution. I bet this is something really stupid like one file somewhere that needs mending too...

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
Ok... so now that it's Monday and this is still not resolved I need to start getting DP together for work this week... Even though I am interested in solving the corruption that exists in my user account I may need to do as Shooshie wisely suggested and consider beginning anew.
So, I decided to try the following rather than do a reinstall. I have ignored ownership on my Backup volume and am pulling in all my Preferences, Plugins and additional relevant files into a new user account that I have created in SL.
So far so good for this... DP 6.02 is launching under SL and I am able to playback and edit in peace... (And man, even 6.02 is snappier under SL)... also of note, I am able to run the MIO console in the background and Euphonix Eucon support seems to be working well in both the MIO console and in DP 6.02!!! That is great news!
Can't wait to get back to DP 7.

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
Just wanted to post and say that this one is solved...
The error I saw was related to a dynamic library file located in my /usr folder.
To solve the issue I performed a fresh install of SL on a wiped drive and I used the migration assistant to only copy over my Applications (It also copies over a number of support files for the Applications so this is handy to use). I made certain to not copy over my user account or any additional files initially.
Then I created a fresh user in SL and I used Chronosync to copy over the needed contents of my /Library folder and my original user account, taking care to show invisible files and to avoid copying over the /usr folder.
This was tricky, however most everything is still authorized on the new drive and may account is 99% back to normal and most importantly, DP7 has been running well for me this past week. Thanks everyone for your help!

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
Just one more addendum...
I cloned my now working SL/DP 7 installation and tried to do what I originally did to get in trouble... I reinstalled the 2.0.3 Euphonix Eucon driver and lo and behold... DP is crashing with the dynamic library error. The Eucon drivers are not updated for SL but if anyone has their products, use caution installing in SL at this time.
The unfortunate part is that the Eucon driver functions in SL for all my other apps but DP crashes immediately after just having the drivers installed.

So glad to hear this! And I'm so sorry you had to jump through so many hoops to get there.KEVORKIAN wrote:...and most importantly, DP7 has been running well for me this past week. Thanks everyone for your help!
I'll be joining you with DP7 during October. But I'm starting with an installation of Snow Leopard this afternoon. I'm excited to experience the snappier behavior.

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
An update... My DP7/SL crashing issue reappeared after maybe 3 days of happy DP7 and SL usage... Initially I just restored a working clone of my SL/DP 7 install, but it happened again (faster this time) so I reverted to 10.5.8 with DP7 to get work done However, I remained determined to figure out the issue.
I decided to do a completely fresh install of SL and reinstall all of my apps from scratch. I did the housekeeping/organizing in my downtime and it was a good thing to go through. Even took Shooshie and another forum member's advice and created a partition with all my installers and licenses ready to go.
After the fresh SL install I installed DP7 and with no other applications installed... it crashed! Same error.
At that point, I decided that it had to be a ram issue so I ran memtest for a night and nothing turned up. Ram is fine.
Frustrated, I dug around on the web again looking for any sort of app crashing behavior in SL and came across this post on Apple Discussions regarding CS4 crashes:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jsp ... 5&tstart=0
Basically, the solution found to the Adobe application crashes was to disable File Sharing and delete any Shared Folder locations.
I tried this and it worked immediately in the fresh install. Crashes gone. How dumb is that?
I'm not sure if this will be helpful to anyone but it may apply to any sort of application related crash you are having in SL. The poster in the Apple forum called it Snow Leopard "the file sharing bug."
Anyway, I'm back up and running in SL with DP 7 and after flipping back and forth between 10.5.8 and 10.6.1 the improvement from using DP 7 in SL is very apparent to me.

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
Very interesting. Thanks for bringing this up.
I've been using the audio/MIDI software over LAN from Vienna Symphonic Library (Vienna Ensemble). It's really great, but the only way I could crack open the LAN connection was to enable File Sharing. I didn't have any crashes but this will definitely be something to watch once I get DP7.

The fix says merely to turn off File Sharing, delete any folders in the sharing window, then turn it back on. You do not have to remain off the network, so no problems there. In fact, it doesn't even say to turn off the network. Just briefly turn off File Sharing until you remove any folders that have accumulated in the little File Sharing window in the System Prefs/File Sharing Prefs panel. Then right back on it comes.

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
wow! thank you so much for that bit of information. I was in a really tough situation with my trusty dp5 crashing all the time, but this solved it!
