Proverb and MW Equalizer disappeared from Plugin list
Hi to all people of this interesting forum, I'm a new registered member.
I would like to ask somebody expert of DP 6 in this forum, if they have any idea why Plugins Proverb and MW Equalizer can disappear from the Plugin list in the Mixer board of DP 6.
I've tried to search for this thread but I didn't find anything.
Actually things are even odds since Proverb disappeared completely, and MW Equalizer is still in the list, but you get only (stereo) word within braces without any label .
Both of them are perfectly selected in the DP 6 "Preferences..." and visible in the Macintosh HD>Library>Audio>Plugins>MAS folder.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall a number of times DP 6.0 and 6.02 and Motu Audio Installer but the problem is still there, I can't get anymore Proverb Plugin and a correct label for MW Equalizer.
Thanks to anybody that could help me,
Marco

Welcome to the board.
Have you repaired permissions after installing DP?
Did you install DP6 then 6.01 then 6.02?

Re: Proverb and MW Equalizer disappeared from Plugin list
I'm assuming the plugs are both indeed inside the MAS folder? This you should verify first. If they indeed are, try the following:
First thing I do whenever DP does anything remotely odd:
Quit DP, then trash the file named "Preferences", here:
user/Library/Preferences/Digital Performer/Preferences
DP will create another one upon relaunch. Fixes 99% of random odd behavior. You will have to recreate whatever custom settings you set have inside DP under Preferences.
Tip: Since this is such a handy fix for DP weirdness, but it's a pain to recreate your custom settings every time, make a backup copy of the entire Digital Performer Preferences folder when everything is working well, and keep it handy. Now instead of merely trashing a corrupt preferences file, you can replace it with a "clean" version by option-dragging it from your backup copy into the preferences folder. This way all your custom settings are remembered and you have a clean preferences file.

Re: Proverb and MW Equalizer disappeared from Plugin list
Thanks to you guys that gave me such a sudden reply.
Kubi: The plugin are indeed regularly in the MAS folder and I've already tried to trash user/Library/Preferences/Digital Performer/Preferences every time before I've reinstalled DP 6. I've also deleted all Plugins in MAS folder before reinstalling DP 6. Unfortunately I didn't make a copy of DP Preferences folder... now I suppose is too late.
Kassonica: No I didn't repair permissions after reinstalled DP. And I've reinstalled DP 6 followed by DP 6.02, I skipped 6.01. I'll try to do it soon tomorrow mornig.
Many Thanks

Hello!
This is a localization problem in OSX.
The easy fix is to set OSX in English (in the system pref and log out and log on your account)
When OSX is in English, both plugins are there and working
Hope that helps
David

Re: Proverb and MW Equalizer disappeared from Plugin list
YES!!!
Got it! After 2 weeks of pain and lots of messages with Motu Techlinks trying to get something out, less than half a day on this forum has been enough to get things right.
Thank you very much for your help Grigi! (and the others as well)
Sometimes the solution is so close to you that you couldn't imagine. Changed Language, logged out and then logged in again and everything went right.
I didn't notice this problem before installing Snow Leopard, so I think that Snow Leopard could have introduced this. And I also had permission errors when I run Permission Repair with Utility Disk as suggested after reinstalling DP 6.02: (my translations)
2009-10-01 02:56:54 +0200: User is different on "Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS", should be 0, user is 504.
2009-10-01 02:56:54 +0200: Group is different on "Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS", should be 80, group is 20.
2009-10-01 02:56:54 +0200: Permission are different on "Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS", Should be drwxrwxr-x , they are drwxr-xr-x .
2009-10-01 02:56:54 +0200: Repaired "Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS"
Thanks again to all community,
Marco

Hey alitalnik01,
Now that you have a fix, please respond to your Motu Techlink
to tell MOTU about the solution [which they did not know about].
This way, they might create a tech note on the MOTU website
for the benefit of everyone, since not every DP user is aware of Motunation [pity them!].

Hello Marco! I'm glad that it work now
This problem was already there in DP5 and DP6 in Leopard... But now with Snow Leopard, it's persistent.
I hope Motu can fix it and we can use our native language on the computer, but for now, English...
David

Re: Proverb and MW Equalizer disappeared from Plugin list
Yes David, Thank you again.
This kind of bugs are evidently not easy to solve even for Motu Technicians. I'll use my Mac in English It should't be a big hassle anyway.
On the on the other hand DP isn't very common here in Europe and in particular in Italy. Even if 't's a good sequencer, much opened than ProTools and much better than Logic (which in comparison is, more or less, a toy).

Re: Proverb and MW Equalizer disappeared from Plugin list
Hi Marco,
same name, same country, same problem
What I've tried to do is more or less:
- Uninstall DP 6.02 first
- Uninstall DP 6.0 after
- Uninstall Motu Audio Installer (I've an Ultralite MKIII)
- Delete User>Library>Preferences>Digital Performer™>Preferences
- Delete User>Library>Preferences>com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist
- Delete Macintosh HD>Library>Audio>Plug-ins>MAS> All files Except not included Instruments (ie Motu Machfive, Ethno instrument etc)
- Restart Computer
- Utility Disco> Repair Permissions
- Reinstall Motu Audio Installer
- Reinstall DP 6.0
- Reinstall DP 6.02
- Utility Disco> Repair Permissions again
Nothing happened up to this point. Finally:
- System Preferences...>Language and Text>Languages>Order for sorted lists: set English
All OK!!
Do not confuse with the keyboard language which doesn't effect DP at all.
Good luck, ciao,
Marco
