I have an early project originally done in 24bit. Though there may not be advantage, I tried to switch to 32 bit, it didn't work. 32bit selection is grey and can't be selected. Why is that? Actually I tested a new simple project started as 24 bit, but I can still change it to 32 bit later. Does this have anything to do with virtual instruments or..... any idea?
Thanks!
Switch from 24bit to 32bit in a project?

Re: Switch from 24bit to 32bit in a project?
Remember that the 32-bit option in DP is for floating-point not fixed-point (some apps indeed do support 32-bit fixed point files).
There was an earlier discussion about the utility of floating-point vs. fixed-point file storage.
I personally only use 32-bit floating-point files for audio restoration work, so that each phase of the restoration work is saved "without conversion" to/from the internal format that is used within the restoration workflow, until the final stage where I save to 24-bit fixed-point Broadcast Wave.

Thanks! I did read that thread but it's not related to switching between them in a project.mhschmieder wrote: There was an earlier discussion about the utility of floating-point vs. fixed-point file storage.
