I have my 8pre firewired to Sonar 7 and the main outs connected to my 4x12 via 1/4 guitar cables.
I have my guitar head 1/4 inched to ch 8 of my 8 pre.
I get a very low monitor signal, while getting a strong guitar signal.
Sonar 7 main out is motu main outs (Right, Left)
My question is, how do I make my monitor back louder for the room, without adjusting the power of the actual guitar signal? I want to make my guitar louder than the drums, as if I were playing straight through the head to the cab; while digitally recording.
Any ideas? Feedback?

Re: Properly Monitoring back through 8pre
update:
the head is being used so that the effects will process (eq,distortion, levels)
going (direct out/phones) 1/4inch to ch 8 8pre.
the motu main outs (1/4 inch) i figured served to monitor, so i directed them to the 4x12 (just a speaker cab)
i realized, the cab has no power so is receiving a low signal, maybe not one for monitor use. Would this mean I get a separate power amp, or could i possibly route the (left- right) cab to chnls 1-2 of the motu, phantom power and separate bus the two?
just trying to think of any ideas.

Yep, the main outs are a line level signal. You'll need to amp it up before the speaker cab.

Re: Properly Monitoring back through 8pre
To clarify further... ALL the outputs on ALL of MOTUs audio interfaces are line level, and will need to go into a poweramp first, or use active-monitors.
