Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
The weird thing is that I KNEW about the + sign. I use it all the time. But you have to go digging and get to "other." Now, why would I think that "other" would give me a selection subset that actually added more to my selection by searching other folders, ie: system folder? And the list that comes up afterward gives no hint of there being a "Search System Files" option until you literally read down to it.KEVORKIAN wrote:I felt the same way when I discovered that one. If you hadn't told me it was there, I wouldn't have ever believed it might even possibly be there. That's one strange way of implementing things, but I'm glad I know about it now.
I hope you find the problem with the Eucon software. That's just not right. Good luck...

Well to be fair they haven't updated their drivers yet for the hardware. I personally never upgrade an OS before my drivers are all said to be compatible. You won't have any problems if you don't use the Euphonix MC Control until the driver is ready I bet, but I would check all your hardware devices for driver compatibility.KEVORKIAN wrote: However I hunted those processes down and have eliminated them but the crashes haven't stopped.
I like the MC Control a lot but Euphonix has a number of software issues to work out IMO...
You're on the right track AFA removing drivers, here's some places to look:
/System/Library/Extensions
/Library/ Application Support
/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/PreferencePanes
/Library/Preferences
/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support
/Users/UserName/Library/Audio/MIDI Configurations
/Users/UserName/Library/Caches
/Users/UserName/Library/preferences
Also sometimes developers instal their own folders, not often but worth looking for.
Look for both Euphonix and MC Control, and basically any other variation. Spotlight is cool, but I don't think it's that useful with this, since companies name their drivers various things like Euphonix.kext or MC_Control.kext etc..
Getting rid of all the files related to Euphonix products in those locations should solve, it. I would do it all at once, then restart. Good luck and hope a driver comes out soon for you.

I think that I was under the impression that the latest driver was compatible with SL... Their DL page doesn't list it but the page here from 8/25:Michael Canavan wrote: Well to be fair they haven't updated their drivers yet for the hardware. http://www.euphonix.com/artist/news/index.php?id=22
suggests that the next software update would be compatible and I'm running the driver that came out on 8/28... pretty confusing IMO... also the apple message boards suggested that the latest driver was for SL but obviously not.... gotta roll with it... that's why I made a clone.
Thanks you for all that... I checked all of those places and the installer logs for any files and deleted them... there were some things in /usr as well that I nixed and no luck... I'm wiping the drive now back to 10.5.7 and DP 6.02 and I'm going to do the following:
1 - Install SL
2 - Check the status of my eucon driver after the SL upgrade (I believe that the upgrade to SL killed the discovery process. That is why I reinstalled the driver and that may have killed DP)
3) Install DP 7 before touching anything eucon related and see what's up.
If DP 7 works again after I retrace my steps then I have the culprit. The crappy thing is that it's killing DP on launch... I don't care if the Eucon driver doesn't work but at least let me run the app. Especially since Logic and the MIO Console appear to be working with the Eucon software under SL....

I just reread the url that I posted and it does say that version 2.1 would bring SL compatibility and I'm running 2.0.3... Mia culpa... what I get for trusting the internets and too many late nights...

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
Sounds like that was a Snow Leopard warning that meant what it said. Most of the other SL incompatibilities have been only of the "official" kinds, meaning "we haven't tested this yet." Kontakt 3.5 Player, for example, works great in Snow Leopard despite NI's disowning that combination. But this one -- whatever it is -- really means "I'll eat your hard drive alive if you try to run me in SL." Sorry you were the unlucky one who had to go and find that out for everyone else.

Ahh... ya win some ya lose some.. I have been laying back and letting others do my testing for a few rounds so I figured I'd throw myself out there this time!Shooshie wrote:Sounds like that was a Snow Leopard warning that meant what it said. In any case... I was so happy with how DP 7 was performing under SL that this honestly doesn't rain on my parade too much. I just hope that Euphonix gets it sorted as best as they can.
And you're right btw... most other SL cautions have not been show-stoppers like this one turned out to be.

Hey before you wipe your drive, I would run through that list again, just to be sure starting DP didn't change anything; and trash DP's preferences as well, all versions you have. I just stick them in a folder on the desktop. Reason for this is DP doesn't know that the Euphonix is gone and could be crashing looking for the drivers.KEVORKIAN wrote:Thanks you for all that... Honestly I've never reinstalled the OS to fix a problem like this, but I do have DiskWarrior as well.
^^^ Little plug for that app, only utility on OSX I've used that affects OSX directly.

This has been frustrating me for a long time. I also thought that this couldn't be done in Leopard, but you have just made my life a whole lot easier with this magnificent tip. MANY THANKS!

As for your troubles, I sincerely hope you get things working again soon. I've been following the thread and routing for you.

Ok... so this is unfortunate... I just retraced a portion of my initial steps and installed SL and DP 6.02 is crashing out of the gate.
I am in the process of disabling as many eucon related items as possible but I have to say that this is strange as I'm doing the same thing that I did previously when I upgraded to SL and DP was operating smoothly...

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
I know I keep answering my own thread but I need someone to talk to about this!
Anyway... in the console when DP crashes, I keep seeing a message about a "Segmentation Fault" on the thread before it logs a report. I finally did some research into this and apparently it is a memory addressing error on the part of an application where it is attempting to access or write to memory that is not there or that it is not allowed to access.
I searched this fault in relation to 10.6 and I found a thread on Apple's discussion boards regarding it.
http://discussions.apple.com/message.js ... D=10226208
In this thread they mention that this issue is cropping up for various apps running in SL and that it has even appeared over time for certain users (This is what happened to me). What was recommended is to try creating a new user and running the apps from the new account to test if the issue lies with the user account (basically, Mac troubleshooting 101... why I didn't remember to try this I'll never know).
I created a test account, logged in and launched DP and it's running just fine. Craziness. In any case... this is a good thing but it may mean that my user account is corrupted and it also may mean that the eucon software may never have been the culprit and that this may be a SL issue that is affecting DP in my case.... unfortunate if true.
I may re-image the drive again and try creating a new user right away to see if that does it. I'd hate to evacuate my user account but if I must I will...

Re: DP7 and 10.6.1
Glad you're making some progress... but so sorry that you are having to deal with all these headaches. I can only offer you this... I am still feeling grateful about that Spotlight tip. Who knows how many more months I would have been without that functionality if I hadn't been following this thread and you hadn't taken time out to give us that tip.
