Take out all of audioease products and see if DP still crashes.
Using 6 and also Cabinet. I took them both out and same result...

However it doesn't look like DP notices that the plugs are removed at launch as it still says it's loading them... Any way to rescan the plugin folder at launch?

Did you uninstall both the Euphonix driver and the Euphonix software?

Does Euphonix still show up in AMS as MIDI ports?

Sucks if Euphonix is to blame...lots of us use their stuff!

I see on their download section that they do not have 10.6 software yet, but a press release for their new Color product says that 10.6 software is soon coming...

good luck,

I installed the driver and the software way back when... I ran the uninstallers for both eucon and studio monitor express, but it still leaves the MIDI driver in the system and a few other things...

I'm really beginning to believe that it's Eucon related, as reinstalling the driver was the only thing that I did between DP7 bliss and this mess, lol!

Kevorkian, try this:

Boot DP with the OPTION key held down.
A Dialog will come up some time after the splash screen.
Set the pop-up menu to Disable All
Hit OK

That disables your plugins. Then you can go into the plugin prefs and disable the one that you think is causing the trouble.

Thanks Sooshie... I did try that initially and just tried it again to no avail. It's interesting though that DP still says it's loading plugins that are removed from the components folder on launch when this is not done, however.

Make sure that the MAS versions of your Audio Ease products have also been removed from the MAS folder. I have had trouble with their MAS Speakerphone plugin of late. I believe they are aware of the issue.

Also, I think removing "Audio Plug-In Prefs" from the Digital Performer folder in your System Preferences will cause DP to rescan all your plugs. And if there are no plugins in the components and MAS folders then definitely nothing will load.

Every crash I have had today has crashed on the following thread:

Thread 25 Crashed:
0 com.Euphonix.MotuEuConAdapter 0x1fb2066b EuphonixSurface::ConsumeFunction() + 251
1 com.Euphonix.MotuEuConAdapter 0x1fc1ab84 boost::function0<void, std::allocator<boost::function_base> >::operator()() const + 34
2 com.Euphonix.MotuEuConAdapter 0x1fc1aafd thread_proxy + 99
3 libSystem.B.dylib 0x90504f39 _pthread_start + 345
4 libSystem.B.dylib 0x90504dbe thread_start + 34

So... I believe I have my culprit... the odd thing is that I don't seem to be able to get DP to ignore this by uninstalling or removing Eucon prefs, DP prefs, etc.

I removed this but it still appears to load the removed plugins... hmm

Update... I removed the eucon.bundle from /Library/Audio/MOTU Control Surface/ and now I am able to launch DP and load a project however the app still crashes after about 30 seconds... but that's weird progress I suppose....

This happened after opening Logic? Aha! Apple's engaged their DP7 warhead, knowing full well that they can't compete with MOTU now, so they have to blow it up!

There exists some remnant of that operation -- loading Eucon -- somewhere on your drive. You've got to find that remnant and be rid of it. Have you looked inside the System Folder itself? Have you looked for extensions in the /System/Library/Extensions directory? There's got to be a file you are missing, and you've got to dig deeply to find it. Spotlight won't find it inside the System Folder.

Is there an installation log for that plugin? I'd go find it and search down the files on it, deleting them 1 by 1. If no installer log, then go into the above mentioned directory and search for anything with that name in it. (manually, if you have to) Then go to all the "Application Support" folders -- at /User level and at / level. Same with Audio folders.

This isn't voodoo. There's a file on your disk somewhere that is corrupted or non-compatible. You have to find it and get rid of it. In the event that the loading of that plugin actually corrupted ANOTHER file, then you've no choice but to go back to a recent installation and start again. That would probably be faster than sifting through every audio plugin, driver, file, preference, or resource, looking for the culprit.

lol... I know you are only joking, but the reason I included that info was that I know that logic also scans the AU plugins and, unlike DP logic actually disabled my stilwell plugs and my Audioease cabinet plugs. It also has Eucon support so I thought it may have awakened some file connection on my system that may have been broken during my SL upgrade...
However this would seem unlikely...

This has to be true and is good advise... I don't believe that this is a crash emanating from DP directly, it must be a SL issue and probably Eucon. However this unfortunate thing is that the Eucon software appears to work in SL from my MIO Console and in Logic so I was hoping I could get to the bottom of it for the sake of being able to use it with DP 7 as well...

Two things of note that you may or may not know...

1) You can show system files in spotlight... the trick is to "Show All" files and then click the + button in the finder window and select "other..." where you can enable System File visibility as an option and choose to keep it in the smart search menu... This is very handy and I use it all the time so you may like...

2) You can get a list of all files that will be installed even if there is no receipt by running the installer for the app in question and choosing "Show Files" from the file menu... I just did this for the eucon software installer that I ran because of your recommendation/prompting!

In any case this is my last try before I go back to my cloned volume and redo the SL update so see how that goes and see if I can't get back to DP 7 bliss!! lol

Just wondering, but is there any .kext file associated with Eucon that is still loading at bootup? Do you have an "Uninstall" option from the Eucon software installer?

May sound like odd questions, but I don't have this myself so I don't know how it works. But if installing Eucontrol is the only thing you did between the time it was working and now it's crash city... well... seems like that would be the problem. Also, if Euphonix also states they don't have an "officially" SL compatible release yet, that might mean trouble.

Not odd questions at all... I'm thankful that you are taking the time to help!

I don't see any kext files for eucon however I may not be looking in the right locations.

There is an uninstall for the software (two uninstallers actually) however they don't appear to be thorough enough for my tastes... they actually leave eucon discovery processes running. However I hunted those processes down and have eliminated them but the crashes haven't stopped.

I like the MC Control a lot but Euphonix has a number of software issues to work out IMO...
