There is a Sibelius 5.4 update that fixes the mixer crashing, or so it says, I just installed it and will get back to you folks when I know one way or the other. But here it is:

Good luck, I don't want to have to go to Sibelius 6 at the moment despite how much I don't like 5, since I want to go to DP 7 and ain't exactly rich.

It displayed the mixer, no crashes. I haven't got time to really experiment with it though, but so far so good.

That's good to hear. Sibelius is looking after older versions, which is more than many companies will do.

I hear you about the cost, Larry. Given that it wasn't that long ago I did the upgrade to DP6, I'm a little resentful of the cost to go to DP7. This year alone I've had several major software upgrades (Adobe CS4 being the most significant) and my wallet is starting to look a little thin.

But when you do finally jump into Sib6, I think you'll find it very nice. Let's hope we have the same experience with DP7!
