Can't import AIFF files
Hi,
This is my first post here, I have DP 5 and can't import AIFF files to a project. I am able to import .wav files both by drag and drop and using the Import Files menu, but AIFF files won't go. When I drag and drop it just flies back to the foldler it was in, with Import Files it just never shows up. I've tried both mono and stereo files to the appropriate tracks.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Can't import AIFF files
This is in the DP manual
. If they are stereo files you can't drop them onto a mono channel.
Are you dropping them in the exact areas you were dropping the waves?

I've tried both mono and stereo files to the appropriate tracks.
By that I meant I tried dropping stereo files onto stereo tracks and mono files onto mono tracks.
I am doing the exact same thing with wav files and they work OK.

Re: Can't import AIFF files
try dropping them in the tracks overview window, dont drag them to the tracks themselves, drag and drop them on the "conductor" heading at the top, in the "track name" column, this should import the audio and create a new and appropriate track, stereo or mono, and name that track after the audio file automatically, give this import technique a shot.
edit* you can do this with a batch of multiple files and each will get its own track and naming.

Re: Can't import AIFF files
Sometimes I get AIFF files that won't import; sometimes I get WAV files that won't import. The solution to both problems is the same:
I use Quicktime to translate the files from one format to the other, WAV to AIFF or AIFF to WAV. The converted files always import correctly (I use drag 'n drop). It is a little bit of a pain but it works.
I don't know if this is a function of QuickTime Pro only or if the free version also does this.
There is also a way to do this in iTunes but, frankly, it's inconvenient. If, however, you need it, I can walk you through the process. QT is better.

Re: Can't import AIFF files
I have DP6.02 and yesterday when i tried to import stereo AIFFS into stereo audio tracks in DP, it would import a blank audio file every time!!! i thought maybe there was a problem with the files, but they played in itunes just fine. i converted them to WAVs in itunes and they imported fine. WEEEIIIIIRD.
