Re: Problem: Audio breaks when two Ultralites are daisy chained
hey everyone
so im buying a new desktop, and am planning on going 64 bit.. right now the interfaces are working perfect with 3.6.7.0 (3 Ultralite MK1s daisy chained), but im looking for more processing power..
if i go 64 bit, will 3.6.7.0 drivers work at all? should i stay 32 bit?

also, i had them working great with windows 7 32 bit.. though i had to use 1394 legacy drivers.. wouldnt work with the 'proper' driver.

Re: Problem: Audio breaks when two Ultralites are daisy chained
I'm running WinXP SP3 32-bit and don't plan on changing a thing until I buy my next computer in about 4 years. It's a 4-gig RAM, quad 3.0 system and I haven't met a project that it couldn't handle yet.
The bottom line is that the 32 bit XP-based system are very mature. If you want stability above all (driver compatability, software compatability, hardware compatability), then I think 32 bit XP is the way. If you want to be on the leading edge of new developments, then as you know there is Win7, 64 editions, etc. But, headaches come from being on the crest of a new wave.

Re: Problem: Audio breaks when two Ultralites are daisy chained
right, but are there any known issues to speak of? it it technically possible to run 3.6.7.0 drivers on a 64 bit system?
Re: Problem: Audio breaks when two Ultralites are daisy chained
you say you are using just the internet and audio? this could well be your problem. try stopping all services to do with networking. if theres one single thing i could attribute most of my motu problems to on xp and vista it would be networking services. drops out everytime. no probs on W7 tho.....
Re: Problem: Audio breaks when two Ultralites are daisy chained
thanks for response.
everything is working right now perfectly.. im running xp 32 bit with 3 ultralites daisy chained.. 3.6.7.0 drivers.. no problems with interfaces at all.
i would like to buy a new computer. core i7 system, with 64 bit windows.. will use vista for now, W7 when it comes out. im just wondering if its possible to use 3.6.7.0 drivers in 64 bit windows, because i know theyre 32 bit drivers.
edit: by the way, any recommended pci firewire cards? this is the only one i found on newegg with TI chipset: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6815124050
