I reported that DP602 did not work w/SL but actually it works, :D !

I read MOTU notes about SL compatibility which states it is compatible and also looked at Japanese rep, Musetex site which also states it is compatible. Musetex recommended to download 602 updates so even though mine is already 602 I downloaded and updated it. Then it first game me a similar error but doing things here and there it worked! Wonderful.

By the way my current audio set up is not 828/DDX3216 but simple USB connection. Built-in audio out also works.

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of what mass commercial programs are working and not working in Snow Leopard 10.6

http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/

But of course...there are no "pro music" programs or plug-ins on there. This list is for the mass consumer. But still...there might be things on here that you all also use on your rig. Worth the browse.

Thanks for that. I went through the list and found that most of the non-music apps that I use are all working properly with the exception of MenuMeters 1.3 which is apparently going to be updated soon for compatibility.

Still in question is Eudora which is my main e-mail application.

For now no way. 10.6 is a less bloated version of 10.5 and should make the production side of things a bit better for the end user. I think I will wait for 10.6.1 to hit the purchase button.

Well I've installed Snow Leopard and my first impression is that it's zippier

I'm first what do I win. :)

But seriously. So far so good. I installed it on a backup macbook pro that my boss sent me when my primary machine had to go into the shop.

1st of all my setup. Macbook Pro. ultralite mk 1, DP 6.02. Plugs: BFD 2, Waves Musicians Bundle II, PSP Vintage Warmer 2.

I had the following problems.

1) Waves won't authorize. It the ilok challenge is unavailable. This may be because I've installed on a new machine. I haven't researched this yet but sounds like it could be a pretty easy fix

2) The first few times I launched a session MAS crashed. It seemed to have something to do with the sample rate not matching the project. In all cases one I reset the hardware driver it was ok. Didn't even need to restart DP.

I was able to play back from a session I did last week. As well as record a track of audio and MIDI (Drums VIA BFD). Both without incident.

So far so good. Seeing as I'm just I'm more of a hobbyist I think I'm gonna roll the dice and put this on my real machine tonight or tomorrow. If I loose waves for a little bit I'll live. Really all I use is the ren comps and the MW Limiter can serve that purpose for me if waves continues to give me issues.

Update the iLok software... see the MOTU website note, as posted earlier in this thread.

Antares just sent me an eMail saying they had SnowLeo updates. I wonder if that means that DP and all the plug ins need to Snow compatible before it'll work? Hmmm

No way! Not 'till I get a clear go ahead from MOTU about Snow Leopard and DP 6.x , and until I've heard from the "Brave Ones" whether or not it seems to work. I know as soon as I install it, I'll be offered a new project, because that 's what always happens and I'll be tearing my hair out and cursing myself for upgrading. It's like passing around a blind corner. Not enough info. MOTU is being very vague and offering no real helpful information so far.

Plus, There's no 64 bit compatibility for DP yet , so why bother.

No thanks. I have a system that is somewhat stable (for Digital Performer, that is). Someone else can blaze this trail.

I was brave! If you have a MOTU PCIe card (I have a 2408 MKIII) make sure you delete the MotuTigerDriver.kext from /System/Library/Extensions. Also remove Ethno AU, VST and MAS components/bundles. All these things wreck havoc right now. I updated iLok and MIDI XT Express software. Everything seems cool on casual inspection. I have a pretty steady workload with DP this week; I'll report all things nefarious.

Here is another good link for Snow Leopard info that is not very clear on the Apple site...but is clear linked below. Some of the features and "upgrades" of Snow Leopard are hardware dependant. So...if your computer does not have the proper hardware, it may not have some of the features Apple is touting. Like 64bit support, Open CL, etc..

This link has a grid that will run down the Apple computers and which ones support which features. Basically...anything in 2009 will support everything...if your Mac Pro or Macbook Pro is older than that...some stuff might not be supported in Snow Leopard even if it is an Intel Mac.

Our copies did not come in today, but were ordered either via UPS Ground or Fed Ex Ground, since economic times have forced us to make a lot of short-term cost savings. I expect they'll come in Monday, considering how we're 40 miles from Cupertino.

One of our software apps uses a LOT of drivers and protocols, and will probably be a really good compatibility test that would potentially be indicative of a lot of plug-ins and apps used by members of this forum. If it hiccups I'll try to find a way to itemise what worked and what didn't work. Our proprietariness is isolated to our acoustical algorithms so it's no big deal; we are an Open Source donor when it comes to some other stuff.

You could always pretend to install it, be offered a new project and then do it with your current setup :)

Anyone having trouble getting a PCIe 424 card to be recognized? Mine worked fine up until the installation of Snow Leopard. MOTU has not released any new audio drivers for it since 2008, though I installed anyway, just in case their versions or dates were incorrect.

A funny thing happened not long ago. All my extensions were changed into folders. How'd that happen? That may be what's preventing Snow Leopard from recognizing the extensions. (just an offhand guess)

My Firewire interface (896) is working, so I'm not completely out of luck, but I prefer the 1296 and the 424 PCIe card. I sure don't want to change all my audio configurations in all my files just for THIS!

Any clues would be most welcome.

Shooshie
