I don't think anybody has said anything about any version of DP having 64 bit code.

Right from the MOTU website:

64-bit support is on the way
MOTU engineering teams are hard at work developing support for Snow Leopard's new, optional 64-bit mode. For now, however, Snow Leopard defaults to 32-bit mode, and all newer Mac models that have the ability to support 64-bit mode (from late 2008 onward) default to 32-bit mode. Therefore, until 64-bit support becomes more widespread for the Mac in general, MOTU recommends running Snow Leopard in 32-bit mode. Stay tuned to motu.com for future announcements about 64-bit support in MOTU hardware drivers and software products.

I'm guessing that 5.13 will run in the 32-bit mode of Snow Leopard, even though it is not official. But who knows?
We'll probably have some feedback from users before the end of the day.

Zed, that's exactly what I was thinking and hoping. So here's hoping some one tries this out and posts the results.

FWIW, I have installed Snow Leopard on my wife's Macbook Pro, and I did a basic DP 5.13 test. I made a simple project, and just recorded some blank audio. But that's all I got for ya. I didn't test any plugins or anything. Otherwise, no issues doing those simple things....

If any 5.13 users go any further than that, let us know!

But of course...there are no "pro music" programs or plug-ins on there. This list is for the mass consumer. But still...there might be things on here that you all also use on your rig. Worth the browse.

My 5.13 crashes everytime both with and without ROSETTA .... both with old files and new files .... MOTU wants me to by 6.XX ... apple is clueless as to the problem

What on earth could be the big motive to move to Snow Leopard anyway? Just because it's out?
It's just a platform, the apps still have to catch up. But even at that, I really have my doubts that
64-bit will make music sound significantly better. People with "bat ears" might be able to tell,
but in a 128kbps mp3 world, I don't think 64-bit will make any difference in sound. In fact, I'd like to see someone post an a/b comparison between two identical project mixes, one done in 32-bit, and one done in
64-bit.

64-bit primarily addresses speed issues, not necessarily sound quality. Your mic preamps and converters
are where the rubber meets the road in that regard. Actually, the only things that make any sound in your
studio are your monitors.

Certainly, there would be NO benefit of using DP 5.13 in Snow Leopard.

Frankly, I have no interest in moving to Snow Leopard at the moment. Big yawn for me.

I have finally started using DP 6.02 full time, leaving DP 5.13 on another partition and not feeling the need to go back to it. DP 6.02 seems to be working pretty well in Leopard, so I will look forward to experiencing the further benefits of Snow Leopard.

David, you're not even slightly tempted by all the claims of snappier performance?

I would love to find out that DP projects load more quickly... especially when there are missing components. Waiting for that "Effect Error" dialogue box can be an excruciating number of seconds.

Ha! Except when the source material is too clean or uninteresting... then a little flanging can sometimes give it a more interesting edge.

My music mac is a G5 running Tiger and DP 5.13. Snow Leopard doesn't figure into my work at the moment.
My G5 setup is really rock-solid, I know its limitations. Me likey.
