it is working again as before
i had added the power adapter during the non working phase but at that point it made no difference.
now i am going to try and see if it will continue working (as before) without the adapter
*** a few minute later ***
it does indeed work without the adapter as well. i will continue to use the adapter as i have already bought it
so i might as well use it.
i will be getting a keystation 49e on wednesday to replace my Oxygen 8 (it is too small)
so i'll keep you all posted
so far so good

1. I am not a spamming Jerk !!FMiguelez wrote:I was following your post. By now, you are just rambling. Could it be that the reason there is not a FAQ about that particular issue is because the amount of people experiencing that does not grant it?bbendorf wrote: Notice how there is not 1 (ONe) FAQ on their website on these issues on the forum? wonder why? because that would hurt marketing and people would buy Cubase and Logic Pro because it all works and does not crash also someone actually answers the tech support line at Apple and Steinberg! also they even give you 24/7 support if you pay in the film industry.. Go look on MOTU site and try to find this problem... Ha Hey i got an idea..try filling out a tech support work ticket. LEts have a contest and see if anyone gets a reply within 1 month on that!!! NOT MOTU must have 1 guy answering it all.
Also, this forum does not belong to MOTU. IT is independently run by James Steele.
Have you tried speaking on the phone with a tech support rep? Please don't tell me you haven't been able to get trough. I live in Mexico, and I get them on the phone every time I need. You just have to call early (9 am Eastern time), and be patient. Ok, the the patient part is not my speciality![]()
Now, have you visited Steinberg's or Logic's forums lately? You will have as many dissatisfied costumers there as well. It's not that their software is bug-free either. There is no such thing.
I can understand your frustration, but I assure you that if you take a more proactive approach, you will find more answers. Have you tried searching this forum for answers to your problems?
Ok. MOTU's tech support is far from great, I'll give you that. I agree there's room for a lot of much needed improvement, but take into account MOTU is a very small company, at least compared to Apple.
But if you REALLY want to get in touch with them, you will. Just wake up early and hit the phone.
BTW, you DO own quite a lot of DAWs!

2. There is no other approch to problems that are caused by bad code.
From the looks of your studio you are aout 7 years out of date just like MOTU.
Do you even own enough MIDI Gear to fill up 4 MIDI Express's? Do you even own the entire Easet West Library, and Most of the Vienna Libray and own 64 other virtual librarys and iVI instruments to even try or test the problems? I sure doubt it as your frustration level would be extremely big. Do you Run 3 24/IO's and a HD 192 with a PCIe card with all the inputs running on a new MAc Pro Nehalem with 32gb mem and 6TB hd and two eSATA raids with G-Technology exteral raids with 18TB? I sure doubt it because it will not run with MOTU as its code is bad that handles the DSP and Hyper threading on the new macs making it crash before you can even use the software. You have to buy a Sepearate USB card just to get the MIDI express 128's and MIDI Express XT's to even show up. Reason, Becasue of bad code and poor foward thinking. and and own every EMu product made, and have a masters in computer programming? OR are you just another person who likes to blow hot air up peoples Sixes. The software is flawed, there is no solution but to not use it in a professional enviroment. If you use old G5 and old OS's it is a perfect product what MOTU WAS about when they actually cared and put effert into it.
Explain to us all how you save your Virtual Viena Ensemble templeates and retain all your MIDI configurations within that template including the actual MID Channel! YOU CAN"T it is a Bug and MOTU knows IT confirmd it and YES it is not in there FAQ I Bugged it, Told them and they refused to Post it in the FAQ because it might hurt there Marketing.? ( when saved as a TEMPLATE with DP6!) without just making a blank sequence and putting some data in each track? Or do you even own enough Vieena to pull two Instances of Viienna ensembles with 32 tracks of instruments? If you did accomplish please tell MOTU how as they BUGGED it and told me it was a BUG and there was nothing to do about it and they would ifx it within a few years!
Explain to us how you get DP6 to see your USB MIDI Devises like the Roland Fantom's or the Yamaha Motif's or the Korg m3 and Korg Oasys? OH thats right you do not even own any of that gear to speak of so if you do not own the gear, then stay silent as you have not a clue as to all the problems there are.
Peole at Stienberg complain, that is why all my USB MIDI Devices show up in Cubase 5 and Nuendo, and also Logic. Oh...yes MOTU's tech answer was to make a "Bridge" and connect the MIDI Bridge to the USB insturment... OOOPS that sound like a brillant idea! only from MOTU. They are so out to lunch that they think you just have a old roland drum machine hooked up?
Well with that answer that is MOTU's solution that will render every USB Software that came form Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Kurzweil USLESS! Not to mention all the film music you have done with the USB instruments working fine in Cubase, Logi, Nuendo and every other vendors software.
What that leaves us is full circle with a Usless program and people who are great , kind but have no clue what it is like to actually use these products in a working Film, TV show or professional Situation. Yes you can get them to work with coat hangers, and bubble gum.
I am not looking for that. I exspect MOTU to get off their 6 and fix these problems.
You live in Mexico? well I paid a runner to call for 2 weeks all day and in the morning, it cost me money and they never got through. There are over 5696 Blog complaints of others out there with the same problem.
I am not hear to bash MOTU but hear to educate all these people that will waste Time , Money and energy on problems that are NOT solvable because MOTU refuses to adress them and instead ignore people so they have to come here to find out how to even get the hardware and software usable in peoples inviroments.
THIS IS A GREAT SITE! But if it only allows one point of view then it is owned by MOTU or not NON-BIASED! Please respect that and let the problems fall back to MOTU so they will do something about it.
If you started a Bug colum and let us all post them, then sent them to MOTU and Demanded that somehting be done..do you not think your Website traffic would go off the chart? It would be a entire new concept to get MOTU and other companys to pay attention to the lproblems and also a nice resource tool to perfect thir product instead of just taking every suckers money then blowing them off.
I have no quarril with you... I respect you and your point of view but do not minimalize the true issues. These people have problems and they are not fixable with coat hangers and Bubble gum. Let them know the truth and things will rock!
Thanks for your responce and thoughts i do truley respect them and listen and read. I am not upset, but getting to the absulute facts not Fiction. As I own all this stuff, work in the Industry and made millions in it. Idid not get to where I was with BS and bad Software. !

.
Dude, if you calmed down, you would quickly realize that comment was NOT directed at you. It was directed to a spammer, whose user name was something like "1232325253523423". He posted the same crap in 3 different forums. THAT is why it was quoted in another paragraph, and the quote read "Some idiotic sequence of numbers"... that's what it is/was.
So please relax, and make sure you understand what is being written, and what is directed to whom, before complaining.
If you realize, the only place I quoted you was in the first part, with your user name "bbendorf".

That my firend is correct I am Half Blind! because of a Brain Tumor being removed. But then agian we all judge before we have the facts. I am working on it this week.! Sorry but maybe i could forward my posts to someone who can actually see what i typed and then send them back corrected. HA

Re: DP6 MIDI in problems creep up
update
it seems that all is well after the 10.5.8 upgrade
my MIDI issues have not returned and i am able to use both an Oxygen 8 or an M-audio keystation 49e
with just a USB cable or with an added power supply with no problem.
i dumped the temporary 2x2 MIDI sport interface and am back to where i was before
i guess 10.5.7 did something to hose the AMS and 10.5.8 fixed it
