I have had an 896HD for over a year now, and although in sadness I hardly use it, it has given me very few problems and some pretty decent results (www.myspace.com/tonymacprods).
However last night I noticed while reconfiguring my studio that the mic/line/fixed input switches on the back are actually a bit fiddly and not very well fitted. In fact the one on channel 5 on my unit is so misaligned that it won't travel all the way up to the "line" position, it seems to be blocked by the casing which means I'm stuck with "mic" or "fixed" option. Now it just so happens that for me this isn't such a big deal but for a unit at this "pro" level and price I would expect better. Unfortunately my unit is now out of warranty otherwise I would have sent it back.
If anyone has any suggestions about fixing it I'd be grateful, in fact it would be good to know of any recommended MOTU repair specialists in the UK?
Happy music making
Tony
PS Does anyone else feel that MOTU gear often has a slightly "not fit together" properly feel about it?

you could just call them up and for a service fee they can fix it for you and chances are you get a brand new unit in replace of it.Well hope this helps. Ive done it before and it came out fine...even got a sweet motu box out of the deal.

That's definitely unusual. Might have been a transportation problem. Are you out of warranty? If so I would simply open the thing and try to see if realigning is an option...
