i've had enough :(
I am this close to throwing my motu828 out of the window. it is a piece of ••••. i have tried so many work arounds and it now seems to be getting worst. i cannot listen to music without a dropout every minute, i cannot watch a dvd without a dropout every minute, i cannot make music or use traktor without a constant dropout. this has got to be one of the worst products i have ever owned.
i have the latest drivers, windows 7, intel dual core 2.2ghz, 2gb ram, geforce 8600m gs. i have had periods where my motu has worked without many problems, but lately (for no obvious reason), it has got worse. the lack of support for windows is terrible for such an expensive product. i don't want to downgrade the audio quality and get a worse audio card (i cannot afford to buy an expensive sound card), but i have not made music in months and i am getting very annoyed.
everyone on this forum seems to have their own workarounds, there are no actual solutions a problem that seems to affect all windows users (audio dropouts, bsod's, etc). can anyone recommend a usb soundcard that is around £200 price mark (the amount i hopefully will get if i sell my motu)?

Re: i've had enough :(
i had vista before and am not going back there. windows 7 has actually improved things...thanks for the tips though. i tried downloading the dpc latency checker. it spikes whenever there is a dropout. i still have no idea what it is. i have disabled the internal sound card, disabled anything that i think could be causing the problem. still get the dropouts. reckon i am gonna sell it, might get a firewire expresscard (got an express card slot) to open my options up. thinking about the focusrite saffire or something cheaper like the native insutruments audio 4 dj.TRANTOR wrote:Replace it to XP, Vista or something other.robleighton22 wrote:windows 7

Re: i've had enough :(
Have you tried uninstalling all your video card drivers? This will cause the video card to function without any acceleration. You should test your system to see if you still get DPC spikes / audio dropouts without the video drivers installed.

Re: i've had enough :(
you should read my post concerning people, computers and Motu.
More than likely it is YOU who is at fault.
If you dont know what you are doing or do not have access to anyone who knows what they are doing...then you shouldnt be doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why dont you buy 1 of those all in 1 boxes??
It would save you alot of grief.

Do you have any constructive advice to add to the OP? Jeez, it's a like a teacher screaming at a student for not understanding the work. We heard loud and clear a few weeks ago... you're system works flawlessly, congratulations.iplaymexicanmusic wrote:you should read my post concerning people, computers and Motu.

Well, some of the frustration I understand because we frequently have people who are in over their heads as far as technology goes and then they come here to rant, when it's not always the companies that make the stuff that are fully to blame.

No help from me. I'm just curious why this post is in the Unisyn Forum. Did I miss the connection? You might get more help in the MOTU Hardware and Windows Forum.

Re: i've had enough :(
Although it is based on the groundwork of VISTA, Windows 7 isn't even out yet---and frankly, Vista isn't exactly a killer OS either. Why are you on Windows 7, or should I ask HOW are you on Windows 7? I'd move to WinXP 32-bit, or move to a Mac.
Thank you,

Re: i've had enough :(
I just saw an add that said w7 will be out soon and if you buy Vista you get a free upgrade, so it is not out right?
I have a friend who told me weeks ago he was using w7 so I am thinking they are using a beta copy.

Just took a look at the link...great write-up Mr. Roach. I'm a Mac guy, and the MOTU stuff always just seems to work on Macs, but it is very nice of you to take the time to put such a detailed guide together.TheRealRoach wrote:Did you give this a read?

Don't know if this works on PCs, but I run one OS partition (Tiger) limited to my music apps and another (Leopard) for everything else on my PPC. I boot into whichever partition suits my needs at the moment. Saves a lot of grief, and it's like having two computers in one.

That's probably what I *should* have done, but I just went back to Leopard again recently.HCMarkus wrote:Don't know if this works on PCs, but I run one OS partition (Tiger) limited to my music apps and another (Leopard) for everything else on my PPC.
