can the timepiece do this for me?

Post by rainy-taxi »

Hi Guys,

I'm currently using an old Opcode Studio 5LX in my setup. It works like a charm, no problem with that. But it's old, I need a very old mac to program it, I have no frontpanel options and its a bit too big for the setup I use it for (input/output wise).

So I'm looking for something to replace it with. I know that miditemp has interfaces that do what I want but the new models have all kind of functions I will never need (and which make them expensive).

What I want to do is the following:

I'd like to be able to make patches which have routings, mergings (can it do merge multiple inputs to one output? like 3 or 4 inputs to a single output?), program changes (to send to my keyboards), maybe control changes (like volume, local off), splits and rechannelings.
I need to recall these patches with a simple tap on a footswitch (I dont have my hands free to dial all kind of program change numbers or press any buttons besides my keys). If it's only patch up then that's ok.

And it would be nice if I can start/stop digital performer with it, remote with a footswitch.

Are these things possible with the motu MIDI timepiece av?

I want to download the manual to read for myself but its not on the motu site so I need to ask others :(

Thanks!
Santi

Short answer: Yes

It's too bad they don't make the manuals available but everything you want is in the features description except the start/stop. I have seen that done.
