Motu Ultralitte MK3 on 32bit vista with service pack 2

Hey everyone, I recently bought the ultralite mk3 and it worked fine on my vista laptop.
After installing windows vista service packs 1 + 2, after i freshly formatted the laptop, i start to get short drop outs of digital noises.
surely this is a service pack issue? i will definitely format my laptop again to see if this is the issue, but was wandering if anyone else had similar problems and could explain to me the cause of this?
