ULTRALITE : routing the master to 2nd output?
Hi,
I tried hard yesterday night, with no success, and browsing the web didn't help me very much:
I run traktor 3 with a dj controller and I'd like to record the output of traktor into a stereo audio channel in ableton Live.
I thought I could route a 2nd master OUT to the analog outputs 1+2, so as to plug the out 1+2 to a pair of analog inputs (7+8), then record back that 7+8 Input into ableton live.
But I can't get it to work...
so : How can I setup my ultralite to output a second master out in a pair of analog outputs ???
I don't want to have to use my studio console "aux out" to send back the signal to the ultralite because it deteriorates the signal...
I tried with the motu cuemix console, but what I understand is that it doesn't allow to route the master output to busses... it seems to only allow to re-route the signals between inputs and outputs, but not the signal coming from the computer...?
any idea??

Re: ULTRALITE : routing the master to 2nd output?
I'm trying to the same thing- that is, route the master output to a second stereo output - this should be easy (well it's easy with other audio interfaces and their control software) but I can't seem to figure it out with the MOTU hardware (which I otherwise like very much).

Hi,
Did anyone get this sorted? It seems like something that must be possible - but I can't figure it out either.... Have you found the answer?
Many Thanks

Sounds like we're overcomplicating this.
If you're trying to route the output of one piece of software to the input in another piece of software on the same computer it makes much more sense to keep the signal "in the box" and use something like SoundFlower (http://www.cycling74.com/products/soundflower).

"They go up."

Re: ULTRALITE : routing the master to 2nd output?
@ enigamtunes : yes, soundflower or jack OS X could do the job, but I was searching for a motu-native hardware solution...
I managed to do this, without using any other audio physical outputs, with enabling the option "add computer's audio to output" in the cuemix console menus. (sorry, I'm at work and I don't really remember the exact name of this option).
with this tip, in ableton I was able to receive the output of traktor in a track configured to receive "ext out 11+12)...
not sure if I'm clear... I'm surely not
anyway, that is NOT a solution to the OP, and this might be impossible with ultralite mk2...
cheers

Re: ULTRALITE : routing the master to 2nd output?
Hallo, there is a assignment in Motu Audio set-up called return assign that allows forward any output to a device in the inputs list called " return ". You have to assign the return to the active output and then recording selecting "return" input in the software. All the modification done in out section (eq and din )will go in return for mastering .I hope this help.
