Hmm, wasn't it just the public beta that was out? Are they different?

Yes, the new version was released this week. It rocks! It was the beta that has been out for weeks. The new version is significantly faster.

BTW, the new version of Safari still doesn't allow control keys to add bold, italics, underline,
quotes
images or URL tags to text on this site.

Other than the "top sites" feature and the removal of the progress bar, I didn't notice any differences versus V3, including speed. I did see a big speed difference with Chrome, but it doesn't do much else.

Really?

I've noticed a big improvement on the tower and even the wifes PPC lappy is zippier.

Good job apple I think.

Do you still have to turn on Private Browsing EVERY SINGLE TIME you launch Safari, or can you now save it as a preference?

This is the number one reason I use Firefox.

Also, can you have a bookmarks bar to the left and drag bookmarks into it, like in Firefox? This is the number two reason why I use Firefox.

Here's what happens (not always, but often) when I open Safari 4 on the second monitor in my two monitor setup and begin scrolling.
Need less to say, I've emailed Apple.

Right now I'm trying the Windows version on my internet computer. So far, "wicked" fast and stable--even on Vista 32!

It requires 10.5.7 I see. How do we like that? I currently run 10.5.5 and have but a tiny fraction of the dire problems I read about here. Any connection, do you think?

No, no noticable difference on a MacBook. Will try it on the G5 though.
