Could anyone please find out if the labeling issue of the mixes and inputs are fixed? I.e. if they are allowed to be edited...
I can't find out for my self for more than a week due to a vacation :?

I never knew Inputs could be renamed.

Mixes can be named and renamed by using "Create New" Or "Save To" options under the Configurations Menu. The new name is placed under the Configuration menu.

The word out is that if you don't have a mk3 model, you might want to stick with an older driver such as 3.6.7.4. because the newer drivers have introduced higher latency to accomadate for the onboard DSP effects of the mk3 units. The newest driver does add new audio analysis tools (posted in my 1st post of this thread), but some non-mk3 users rather stick with the older driver (2.6.7.4) because the lowest hardware buffer size is 32, in contrast, the newest driver has 64 as the lowest hardware buffer size.

It's always best to uninstall the older driver before installing a new driver.
i cant get the 3.6.7.4 drivers to work on windows 7 - anyone been successful (32-bit version), tried windows vista sp1 compatability mode - the drivers install, cue mix works, but the sound card does not actually show up as being plugged in.

You can install the new driver (3.6.8.1410) for the Traveler. It's just some are concerned about keeping the driver version that has the 32 hardware buffer size option, and the 3.6.7.4 has that size.

At a 44.1 sample rate, 11ms latency would mean that the hardware buffer is set at 512 samples and the latency will be a smaller size at higher sample rates.

So with the new driver's lowest hardware buffer setting of 64 samples. you will have a 1.5ms latency reading at a 44.1 sample rate. With a hardware buffer setting of 64 used, SONAR reports that the ASIO reported total round trip latency is 6.1ms. In my opinion, that's not bad, but not as low as the total round trip latency that is possible with non-mk3 units and the 32 hardware buffer size selected.

Hope this helps.
Many thanks Hotshot will try the older drivers

So when I saw the new drivers I downloaded and installed them instantly.

But now when I open CueMix FX the software opens for all of about 5 seconds and then blue screens my computer!!

So I re-installed and some thing happens.

So I manually went through my computer and deleted every reference to MOTU and did the same in the regedit. My computer was then devoid of anything of MOTU, and I re-installed the new drivers.

Guess what. Same problem!! Only now I can't roll back the drivers to the previous ones!! And the old ones I can't seem to find on MOTU's website either.

Can anyone help?

ERrm, When you say which version, It'll be the version that is currently up on the MOTU website, the one with all the new tools that nobody seems to want.

I haven't seen the driver sticky. What is it?

Hello timmytubby,

I realize you're desperate to get drivers but wanted to let you know that I want and value the new tools. They're incredibly useful. I've already used them to fix a crossover problem in a Cerwin-Vega D32, identify an RCA plug with bad plating acting as a bandpass filter, found a cable with a connector installed wrong and showed a customer who was unhappy with a recording that the problem was with his school auditorium. I can work some magic but a bad room is a bad room! Sometimes a picture is worth dozens of hours of listening! Especially for guys that don't know "how" to listen.

I'm looking forward to using the new tools in a church in Little Rock that has a semi-circular worship center. Performances there are very crowded and I have very restricted space to set up microphones. There is a lot of "comb" effect and these new tools will enable me to a way to minimize those effects.

When you finally get tools like this and begin using them you'll soon wonder how you got along without them!

The driver version before 1410 was 1400 and before that, 1394 - all enable MKIII features but are usable with older gear too. I use 1410 with the original Traveler and an 8Pre.

The struggles everyone has with "drivers" is really an Intel chipset problem with Dual core and Core 2 Duo or more machines, MacIntosh as well as Windows machines. It's pretty clear that Intel has little interest in Firewire but a great deal of interest in Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0. I believe Firewire ports will disappear on consumer computers within a year. Firewire will be relegated to special apps for military, etc. USB 3.0 is full duplex vs half-duplex for USB 2.0 but it remains to be seen how well it will work. Intel has not released any real info on it yet. Gigabit Ethernet is packet based but the video guys are using it and commited to it and are solving those problems. A simple $35 Ethernet card with the right drivers will make a super interface. But, we'll have to wait and see how the industry goes.

but he's getting a bsod with the new drivers,... All the tools in the world won't help that.

On another topic. How are you syncing your traveler and 8pre? Samplerate/bitdepth?

timmy tubby: I have the old drivers you want. Got a way to get a 15 meg file?

For grins, you might get a tech report started with Motu too.

Just to say this last drivers seems to me the most important step forward since the MK3 series born.
It is now one year I own an 828 MK3. I’m always annoyed by strange errors in the MIDI channel. not other issues in the audio part bat a constant type of error with stuck notes or missed notes in MIDI channel. Two days ago I installed this last drivers and also this last problem disappeared. Furthermore the latency seem now returned normal. Compared in two different machine with another firewire interface a Presonus Firebox I obtain same latency time for same buffer length and also at very low latency I don’t notice drop or glitch.

Cheers,

Gianluca

So what's your situation, now?

What is the error code or message you get at the top and bottom of the BSODs, (maybe something like "Driver_IRQ_Not_Less Or_Equal" or does it name some file?

You didn't give up, did you?
