Hi guys,

I registered to these forums, obviously for the problems you guys are having as well.

I just (5 hours ago) got my brand new Motu 828 MK II usb 2.0 and quess what,
- no sound output (not even in quicktime, iTunes etc),
- disabled outputs in cuemix and high beeps...

I'm using a Power Mac G5 dual 2,7ghz with Mac OS X 10.5.5, with USB 2.0 ports,
ATI Radeon 9650 (I read that some Win users had conflicts with gfx cards)

- I've tried every possible USB-port
- I've tried without any other USB-devices (except keyboard)
- Moving mouse creates a low hissing sound (hd reading as well)
- Also while trying to play something, I get high pitched beeps
- I've tried with different mouse, without mouse etc.
- I've resetted MOTU to factory settings
- Everything in audio setup seems to be in order
- Logic Pro 8 seems to recognize the drivers, however no sound
- Logic Pro 8 however reports about MIDI conflict or error with another MIDI drivers (no other drivers present)
- Put I can't get into MIDI setup, gives an error

I won't downgrade to Tiger because at some point I must update the OS anyhow so my obvious way out is to send the Motu back unless this get solved,
Lots of ppl are still using PPC (and getting them now since they are affordable at last) for producing and it would be plain stupid to ignore these issues.
Hopefully they get solved fast.

I'd place my bet on USB problem here, but I'm just a newbie.. :)

I've noticed the driver is now on version 1.4.9

...which is 2 versions on from when this thread was started. Has anybody tried with the new driver and had success on PPC yet ?

I'm tempted to try myself when I get back in the studio after xmas. Hopefully it won't cause a major cock-up again!

Now the most buggiest leopard versions are behind us, and seems that snow leopard might be supporting PPC after all. And in addition, we got new MOTU drivers, any idea if the problem is solved?

I've read that the PPC G5 + leopard have USB problems in general, so this probably never was MOTU's problem...

I think I'll give it a go today and install Leopard to another partition.. I've been using my MOTU for the past year with Tiger. :)

My daughter has been borrowing my 828MkII for a while now so I have never tried mine with Leopard. Has anyone tried the latest drivers?

Is this a USB issue only or does the Firewire version suffer it, too?

I'm running DP 5.13 with Leopard on an iMac G5, along with the Firewire version of an 828mkII and it works fine.

I experienced a similar problem on my dual 1.8 G5, I have a firewire 828mkII, I solved the problem by replacing the actual firewire cable from the factory provided to one I got a Micro Center and he unit has worked fine. Do not attempt using the latest drivers since they don't work on a PPC use the one previous instead. http://www.motunation.com/forum/posting ... =2&t=28494#
