Controlling DP6 with the Digi 003

Well, I've searched for but couldn't find an in-depth guide on how to configure, and use the 003 to control DP6. I think it can be done, I just can't figure it out. I really have to ask how to set the whole thing up from a to z. For instance, I can see the MIDI activity in DP6 when I press play on the 003 transport, but DP does not respond at all. It may be something simple, but I cannot figure it out. I also have a Yamaha 01V that I would like to use as well. I also tried to find a step by step guide for that set up also, but could not. Please help me get this to work if it's really possible.

I was told, when I was looking into the 002 a few years ago, that the control surface could only be used for Pro Tools and wouldn't be compatible with any other DAW's. So I got a 002 rack and a different control surface. Not sure if they've made the 003 control surface compatible with other DAW's, but I doubt it - DigiDesign tends to be like that.

If it's going to work, you probably need to put the 003 control surface into some sort of HUI or Mackie Control simulation mode. That's pretty much how all the other control surfaces achieve compatibility with DP.

DigiDesign/Pro Tools equipment tends to be proprietary. Someone with mad modding skills may have figured away around it, but I haven't seen it yet.

Thanks for the replies. I also have a 002r and I never gave it much thought. I've always controlled the transport and things with an Edirol PCR. But, my large mixer broke down, and I got an 01V for a good price. In the manual it said I could use the buttons and faders to control my DAW. Couldn't figure out how to do it, so I used DIGI hardware exchange to trade in an old unused AM3 card for the 003. It also says in the 003 manual that I can assign switches and faders to control DP, but it doesn't go into detail. That's why I needed to ask if anyone has any idea. Looks as if there are a few people out there who wuold like to know also.

Using an M-Audio ProjectMix at the moment. Moving overseas soon, though, so I'm going to sell it and probably get a Mackie Contol. The ProjectMix works pretty well, but it's also an audio interface (I don't use the audio side) and is only connectable via Firewire, which I don't like because that means it's taking up unnecessary extra bandwidth on my Firewire Buss.
