Ride.

Seriously though I never got a ruling on MOTU's policy, but the only thing I could do is do a sticky or make a special section for these "mods" and I'm hesitant to go out of my way to call attention to them.

I can never figure out whether I should be using light, dark or unified. From what I can tell, Dark is very slightly darker than light, but otherwise exactly the same? And unified is the version that Amlidood prefers to use? that also has some tweaks to handle situations that light and dark don't handle right?

I'm confused. Truthfully I like slightly darker better, but I just want to pick the one that is most likely to not have any glitches and go with that. Is that unified? Why does unified have the dark black border around the whole window while the others do not? I think I would prefer to not have the black border, so that means use either light or dark, but light and dark don't have the tweaks that unified has for dealing with a few weird issues. Am I understanding all this right?

Sorry for the confusion. I just had two slightly different development paths going and got frustrated by the little inconsistencies in both of them. So I made the unified, with combined good elements of both, and dealt with some little problems. Mostly these had to do with glitches when using the Consolidated Window. You can mix and match elements from any of the three without causing huge problems, as well.

I'm not sure what the black border issue is. Haven't seen that.

As I said earlier, I'm not moving any further with this mod, just going to make sure it still works with the next few updates that come out. I'm sorry to all who have come to depend on it, but it's a pretty massive maintenance job and without any possibility of trouble-free compensation, it just has to be what it is.

I completely understand that. Hopefully your point has been made and Motu has been watching and learning for what to do better in DP7 in that regard. They dropped the ball so badly on that in DP6. The only reason I upgraded was because of your mods. Otherwise I would definitely have stuck with DP5.

Maybe I'll poke around and try to understand a little better about what you did so that I can tweak it myself. I will make a screen shot of the black border I'm talking about. Seems like you designed it that way, but now you're making me wonder if not. Strange.

So really Unified is the best, and most current one to use, and if I want the darker look I would need to try to figure out how to bring those elements in from the dark one into unified. Sound about right?

disregard what I said before about dark border. I had my backups mixed up and some overlap between darkmod and yours. Unified now looks dandy. I'm gonna try to see if I can make it a hair darker, or maybe I'll just use it as is. Its certain a ton better than factory.

Well guys, so much for not moving further. I've got a pile of work coming up using DP, so I wanted to try and tweak the Unified mod a bit. Here's a sneak peak of what's coming...

Mostly a lot of contrast enhancement and a few control color changes...

Hi Amp.,

I just sent you an MP, dont know if you've seen it yet, anyway...

I was wondering where i could get your last mod for DP6 cause you're doing a great job and I just love the way you made DP6 look (reminds me of PT8 in some way, don't really know why, the colours and faders maybe...)

I know it's somewhere around here, but to be honest I'm kinda new here and I ain't got much time to spend on the Internet... It would be great if you could give me an url or a link or somehting... :D

Thanks, and keep doing that thing.

I haven't released this latest version yet, but you can get at the previous versions in the very first post of this thread. That's where I keep all the links and I update it every time I bring something new out.

Thanks for the kind words and I hope it improves your experience as it has for many others.

PS, on the PT 8 thing....

I was quite amazed when I saw the new Pro Tools at how they were headed a very similar direction vibe-wise. I never saw PT8 before it was released and was way down the road tweaking the DP6 GUI when it came out. In fact, I think I got version 3 out before PT8 hit the world.

Yeah yeah I just got it, I found out the topic's description... I might have to learn how a forum works before all haha.

Just installed it, it looks so much better... I feel like i'm gonna enjoy using DP a lot more now. Great, really really great work, looks more pro to me, more pleasent. Can I spread the word ? :D

Do you have some sort of realease date for the next version ? I'll check back later for sure !!!

Thanks again,

Jeremy, from france.

Well maybe the guys at digidesign got into your computer or something while you were doing your thing :P hehe...

They look very similar now, on many points, pretty weird... :) But still i think i got a preference for DP. That would be great to have a new set of plug ins, that lacks a lot in DP, they're not really pleasent or easy to use in my opinion.

I'm planning to buy one or two UAD1 cards, hoping that they'll make DP the best software to use for me !
