New MOTU Firewire/USB 2 Drivers Have been Posted. 3.6.8.1410

Post by HotShot »

I've got to say I've been waiting on this release, and I'm glad it's finally here! The new release is posted at the MOTU site: http://www.motu.com/download/body.html/

These new 3.6.8.1410 drivers seem good to me. The lowest hardware buffer sample size is 64 now, and the ASIO output routing offset problem is fixed in this new release.

Also, there are 3 new software tools in CueMix FX under the Device Menu: Oscilloscope, X-Y Plot, and Phase Analysis. And unlike the Oscilloscope (which didn't work for me) that was part of the 3.6.8.1400 driver release, all 3 of these new tools work!

Pictures below:

EDIT:

I didn't think to post this with my original post, but the trim knobs on the Input tab of CueMix now work in correspondence with the trim knobs on the hardware. If the trim knobs on the hardware is adjucted, the trim knobs on CueMix move simultaneously. Cool!

Also, when I turn on my UltarLite MK3, it shows Loading Audio Router..., when it used to read Loading Audio Console....

Ok, let's try this new expectated driver release:

-MIDI realibility errors are the same. Null. I try to send a sysx 998Kb file through MIDI out. Two consecutive checksum errors. I dont try the third time. I use a cheap 70$ MIDI interface and send it with success at the first attempt.
-ASIO. There isn't sound through Main outs using Nuendo 3. It seem to have activity on SPDIF out. I try with reaper and it doesn't work at the first time. Need to switch from directx to ASIO. Now it seems to work.
-Try to change ASIO buffer Using nuendo 3. Crash.

I lost any profesional expectatives on this development team. I DON'T NEED an oscilloscope, phase or fft spectrum... There are a tons of freeware software for that.
I NEED a professional interface!. I pay for it and IT IS NOT a professional interface. It cover a part of my needs but has some unnaceptable fails.
It has buggy drivers, buggy routing, buggy MIDI realibility.

Hey Tom,

looking for the pictures, they didn't come through over at the Sonar forum either.

Can you tell if they got rid of the double buffer that increased the latency for everybody over the 3.6.7.x ver?

Hi Mark:

I can't say if the new driver is devoid of the double buffer latency of the 3.6.7.x drivers because the only drivers I have used is the 3.6.8.x releases.

I can say that this newest release (3.6.8.1410) has a 64 samples hardare buffer size, but there is not a 32 samples size available.

I don't know why the pics aren't showing for you. They are showing for me in IE 8. I wonder if other people can't see the pics, too. Oh well, I tried.

Hello,

it's a long time now Motu gived buggy drivers for Windows, i work on macbook pro with bootcamp and i will wait for update my driver until someone come with a good news... . It's really sad because it's a really good engine the 828 mk3 and i don't understand why it's so complicated to make a good driver.
On mac, it's ok, the update driver is ok. Why they don't make an open source driver for Windows, some experts peoples could find a good way to resolve this problem!

I can see the image icon until the page is done loading, then it disappears. Must be the way I have my browser set up (Firefox) I'll dink with it to see.

Ahhh, finally... They really did it... :) No asio misrouting !
Confirmed crash when changing buffer lenght in Cubase5 but it is not such a headache because i've seen a lot of interfaces doing this. Haven't played a lot with this 1410 but so far so good...

Nuendo 3 has ASIO routing fails. Main Outs are routed to SPDIF OUT.

Not sure about that, every app I tried (except Nuendo3) Cubase, reaper, energyxt, forge, everything seems ok... Maybie there are leftovers of the previous driver version ?

when you say "tried" you mean using the ASIO driver?

So . . . for somebody interested in this product but hasn't purchased yet. Am I wasting my money buying into MOTU? I'm a Windows user.

New driver works wonderfully well. The routing problem has been fixed. The new phase meter is better than what I had envisioned. The diagnostic capabilities are absolutely astounding and I have numerous projects where these will be used.

I have a place I record several times a year and have never been satisfied with the sound due to standing waves and the phase problems these cause. I'll take a speaker there, feed it with white noise, and look at various microphone configurations that will minimize these problems. The MOTU gear is an incredible value! No one else, at any price, provides these capabilities and tools.

Another plus is the way CuemixFX loads when using 3 interfaces. In driver 1400, with Traveler MKIII, original Traveler, and an 8Pre on the Firewire buss, Cuemix nearly choked the computer trying to throw all 3 versions on the screen at once. Driver 1410 loads them 1,2,3 very nicely with no wait for system to stabilize. There's not enough real estate on the monitor to keep all 3 on-screen at once so I keep two minimized but can switch among them very quickly.

Hello,

so, it's really good news about the drivers, and for the peoples who's tried, how about the latence? can you have a latence of 128 or 64, perhaps 32 ?

Thanks again for the peoples who's made the new update and posted here the result!!!

Sam.
