Digital Performer 6 trouble
Hi everyone!
I have a serious trouble with DP 6.02.
I open a project done in DP 5.13 with several sequences and chunks in the new DP 6.02, then I import new audio files into a new sequence in the same project.
Result: i find (random)the imported audio files in other sequences of the project!!!!!!!!!!!!!How is possible????
Finally, if I reopen the project in DP 5.13 it's all right.
Please help me!!!

Re: DIGITAL PERFORMER 6 TROUBLE
The first thing I would try would be to save a copy of the DP5 project under a slightly different name-- ie: "My Project backup".
Then, I would work from the copy and delete the unused soundbites, merge soundbites, and then save again before opening in DP6.
When you say that there are random imported audio files in the project, do you mean that they appear in the Soundbites window or are they showing up in actual audio tracks?

You're braver than I, Frodo. I couldn't even begin to comprehend the original post.
Shouting ALL CAPS in header fixed, as I suspect the issue ultimately will not be the fault of DP6.

You know... they had a Sicilian festival in town here not long ago and I totally missed it. Isn't your family from "the island?" I'm having to be careful about my weight these days, which sucks because I can't have Italian food and my God there is nothing I love more!!MIDI Life Crisis wrote:It is a well known fact that hobbits have an uncanny ability to understand broken English when spoken by an Italian. Re: DIGITAL PERFORMER 6 TROUBLE
My dad's side is from Sicily (both grandparents). My mom's side is from Italy. This is sort of a joke, but in "those days" a Sicilian was NOT an Italian to the wo...., I mean the Italians from the mainland. It was something of a scandal. Silly, huh? I probably cook 80% Italian food at home and rarely go to Italian restaurants. It is rare they can compete with family recipes.James Steele wrote:You know... they had a Sicilian festival in town here not long ago and I totally missed it. Isn't your family from "the island?" I mean that I listen to the audio files imported in a sequence also in other sequences of the same project, but without to see them in regions or doubled soundbites.
I only listen to them in wrong places.
I did yet a copy of all the work made in DP5, compact project, delete unesed,etc.....

Re: Digital Performer 6 trouble
It sounds like some very strange file corruptions and bad file references. One reason why I've kept DP6 and DP5 on different system drives altogether is to also keep their respective Preference files separate.
I would still recommend merging all of the soundbites and either timestamping the merged audio-- or run bounce all the audio to individual tracks starting from 1|1|000.
Then, delete unused soundbites from the soundbites window, and rebuild the project in DP6.

Re: Digital Performer 6 trouble
If I understand right, you might also rename the soundbites in question before importing them.
Just an idea.

Re: Digital Performer 6 trouble
Frodo hit the nail on the head with his comment re: keep DP 5 and DP 6 on separate system partitions. Changes in DP between versions makes booting into both from the same system disc a no-no.

Re: Digital Performer 6 trouble
See, this is why DP 6's installer NOT getting rid of 5.1.3 makes no sense to me. I was surprised when I installed 6 and it retained 5 on my drive, especially if the MAS plugs were updated (and I believe they fed off of the same Prefs file, unless I'm mistaken), thus causing a huge potential for problems. I should have completely uninstalled 5.1.3 and made sure all the MAS plugs and prefs were cleared out before installing 6. As it is, I wound up completely reinstalling all the plugs, trashing the prefs and generally having to make sure all was well due to problems I encountered with 6 right off the bat. It would be nice if the 6 installer actually behaved (or had the option to behave) like an updater rather than a standalone installer, and helped eradicate any problems caused by earlier versions of the software already existing on your machine. Is it possible this could be the cause of some grief with the transition from 5 to 6?

Re: Digital Performer 6 trouble
I didn't mean to imply that DP6 won't work when installed over 5. It works perfectly for me. However, trying to open old projects in 5.13 AFTER installing 6 is when troubles will surely be encountered, hence my advise to put 6 on a new partition. My approach was to clone my 5.13 OS 10.4.11 partition and install DP6 on the clone, maintaining the original until I was sure 6.02 was a go.
