hmmm .. do I blame Motu or the software?

Post by tgle1977 »

Riddle me this. I route the (edit > incoming) audio from my 1296 to my spdif (edit > output) on my 308 and use the spdif out as my master channel going to the amplifier. I do this because there is no headphone output on either motu unit (seems like an oversight to those who have no use for a 2408) and i like to have the option of switching between two sets of monitors and a set of headphones. So when tracking why can I not hear the part I am recording? This happens in Cubase le and Sonar 7 producer yet on FL Studio 8 no problem (except with a bit of latency. All programs are using the Asio. Pretty annoying.
edit.
Oh I should have made my question less obtuse.
Is this an issue I can fix? Should I not let my daw's handling the routing and instead handle it in cue mix? Actually just by asking the question I think I answered it. Allowing cuemix to handle the ins and outs should eliminate the latency issue within FL studio Producer and I should actually be able to monitor myself in Cubase le and Sonar Producer. Am I correct in my presumptions? my motu box is for security reasons sans interweb and i have to ask these questions on my laptop outside the studio.
