light pipe out on 896

how can i send the output of the 896 to a digital mixer. can you do this?

You'd likely do this within your DAW software. If you want to just send there main stereo out then just change the channel assignment of your main stereo output of your DAW. Software like Cubase 4 makes this pretty easy because you can just set up a duplicate output using it's "Control Room" feature.

and keep in mind since the 896 only has one i/o that you'll only get 8 channels at 48 k sample rate. If you're not using Cubase you'll probably have to set up the Motu audio interface too.
