Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
1. Solo redesign. Create a preference to allow written mute automation to remain active in solo position also be able to write mutes while solo'd. Add solo to VI channels by keeping logs of all MIDI sources connected to a VI. Additionally create pref to have all MIDI sources related to a VI channel being solo'd to pop into/appear in the mixing board when solo'd.
2. Reroute any IO's direct audio channel with low latency to mix board channels automatically using the IO's input fader mixer software as preset level controls '0' on the IO mixer being matched unity gain to DP's mixer '0'.
3. PUT BACK SLIDE OUT INDIVIDUAL SELECT WINDOW BACK ON CONTROLLER or somewhere but make it available again.
4. Have transport controller break away windows so we can put the play record buttons or display window anywhere on monitor. Three separate windows. Allow us to save the positioning as template.
5. A pref to turn on and off effect send unity gain '0' setting or off setting when new channels are created.
6. Fix controller positioning memory error so that it can be positioned at the bottom of a 30" cinema display.
7, hen there are no plug ins, the fader VU's follow the panpots or show panpot positioning levels as they should. After a plugin is inserted, we loose that and get the effects pre panpot but post effects. This has always been a pet peeve of mine. This is so even if you were to insert stereo effects pre by raising the pre-bar. In fact, it switches back to mono if you do that. How weird! So...I want to be able to have a button to switch the meters to the output of the pan, including the plugins.
8. As mentioned later Multi-track bounce
9. Per burn em's request: Longer faders - scalable would be super cool. with metering options and higher resolution.
10. A parallel Apple MIDI monitoring software app to no latency solution.

Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
I would love to have a preference where I could check/uncheck if I want my plugins windows to be always at the front . I mean, sometimes is very frustrating being doing some plugin adjustments and have to move the wiper back or fix some mixer stuff clicking on it's window and loose the plugin window you were working with...I know... we have exposé but it would be very cool to keep plug-in windows at the front.

Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
faster load times of VIs etc., if possible
plug-in dock, for quick arrow key scroll/select
plug-in window to keep open plugins together, and to remember/open plugin combinations
MIDI control of all dp plugin parameters, and make MAS plugins compatible with Novation Automap
visible buffer size
fix 'templates' output destination issue
option to just attach control panel to the consolidated windows
more coherency with selections when switching between views
a good compressor for individual tracks

Make that auto-backup for me. PT style auto backups are essential for an app that renders corrupted project files so frequently.ironchef_marc wrote:and auto-save!!

Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
My biggest hope for DP 7 is that they get DP 6 smoothed out first and I can hold off on buying 7 for a while, because 6 is working so damn great.

I know that. I use it all the time with my AlphaTrack but I still think it would be nice to have that feature so even if one do some adjustment on any DP6 window, plugin windows would remind at the front.

Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
Command-click/right-click functionality. DP is the only program I know that doesn't have it. Terrible waste.
Bigger type on bottom of control panel. Stability and more stability. No more Russian roulette with plug-in compatibility.

I totally agree with that.Bill O'C wrote:Command-click/right-click functionality. DP is the only program I know that doesn't have it. Terrible waste.
And... I'd really like to apply speed changes the way we used to do with tape recorders... OK, I can edit soundbites with Peak's "Change Pitch" when I need it, but it's not easy to get them in tune with other tracks and instruments. A tape-style pitch dial in DP would be great.

Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
just copy and paste my feature wishlist from V 5 - 6
I want to see MOTU implement the ability to use the AU version of a plugin even when a MAS version is present, at the moment this is not possible.
now, on top of that.
#1. I want to split the consolidated window into 4 major parts, you can almost do this now, but not in the way that I mean. I would like to have the track view in the upper left, seq view in the upper right, mixer in the lower left and the lower right square would be changed amongst data windows, track inspector, sounbite window etc. Opening the sidebar windows is close, but they cannot display some windows.
#2. I would like to be able to view the mixing board and the v-rack at the same time in separate windows. also to be able to send automation data to the VI on the MIDI track, as it is now you must insert an audio track along with the MIDI track and assign the automation for the vi on th audio track, this creates a lot of extra tracks when using the v rack and automation.
#3. !!!UPDATE THE PLUGINS!!!* some of DP's older gen plugs are just not quite up to snuff. the trigger plug is the absolute worst audio to MIDI trigger I have ever used.
*the masterworks EQ, leveler, compressor and Proverb have all been great to me, however, the MW limiter is horrible, it adds distortion to everything, even with light use, please fix that, bring it up to the transparency level of the Wavearts final plug 5 or something similar.(thats what I use in place of the MW limiter, it never distorts or adds artifacts unless you slam it down to a ridiculous level.)
(Back when I transitioned from Studio Vision Pro to DP, #4 is the one that broke my heart.)
#4. when creating or editing MIDI CC# data in the graphic editor, why are we only given like 7 or 8 CC # options to start with? I know that you can type in any MIDI CC # you want, but it's annoying to try and remember all the parameter #'s for all my different hardware. back in SVP you could type up a parameter name list for each hardware instrument you had, assign the MIDI CC # name list to the proper hardware channel, and then any time you opened up the graphic editor for a track on that hardware channel it would display the entire list, all 0-127 according to your own custom written names. (like CC#40 Filter 1, CC# 42 Filter 2 etc..). this was great for my virus rack and my nord rack.(basically offer a full MIDI CC# list in the graphic editor similar to the VI parameter lists in the seq editor, but with custom name lists per hardware channel)
#5. and yes of course, fix any bugs, tighten up the system overall, what everyone else said all over again from me
something I'd LOVE to see, (and I'm not sure if someone else already mentioned this or not) would be for the track names on the mixer to be "locked" to the bottom of the window, so if you have your window set to less than full height, you could scroll up and still be able to see the track names. I can't remember how many times I've accidentally tweaked panning or send controls on a track adjacent to the one I meant to change.
I posted this before but I will reinstate this feature request as I feel this would be a wild and yet easily achievable ground to break from a technical standpoint, so here it goes.
in the mixing board, the pan section should be enhanced, I would love to see the option to select my "pan style", as in there would be a selector switch to change between styles, like balance, where the left right volume balance is affected, and then mix, where the signals will blend ala the trim plug but more convenient, then dual, where you can blend and balance in the pan section, and possibly a stereo width or spread control.
this seems very realistic by current capabilities and would be an "every single session guaranteed" kind of workflow enhancement.
also, please update the model 12, make a model 24, with 24 parts and with pan and split options for mono files, this would put the mono file on left and right sides with controls for offset of 2 separate start times off play triggering, and 2 separate start times for the file or sample launch point. with this you could drop a snare in one slot and the offset the left to start just a few Milliseconds early or late on one side, creating a nice swooping crack from side to side by impact rather than a traditional sweeping pan movements, does that make sense?
I will sometimes achieve this effect by making a model 12 kit, copy it to a 2nd track and pan hard left and hard right, then offset the MIDI notes. Doing this directly in the sampler with sample start, trigger start and tune adjustments for left and right separately would be a truly sweet tool to have with so many possibilities, and of course 5.1 as well
It wouldn't be enough to inhibit sales of the Mach5, but it would rival the esx24 much better from a marketing standpoint and would be a very unique and creative ability and would excel at separating DP from "just the rest".

Re: DP7 THE WISH LIST
I have to agree with a few other posters here -- I don't think I need to see a vast amount of new features (isn't that what got us into trouble with 6?!?), I just wanna see all the stuff that's been implemented in 6 working properly. Don't even touch the plugs! I promise I'll stop bitching about 'em! (though I wouldn't object to a little more work going into Pro Verb ...)
However, if we're laying out wish lists, how about a built-in basic one- or two-bar drum machine in the Metronome section? You could set it up like a VI's (read: BPM's) step arpeggiator and utilize the same sound set that you can now assign to the metronome. Maybe even have a basic set of rhythms built in, in both 4/4 and 3/4 time, and the ability to lay down basic beats, nothing overly fancy. That way, people who are more comfortable with composing to a drum machine than a click (me) are happy and people who like setting up their own beats to work from can do so without an external drum machine or another VI set up that eats unnecessary processing power. You could even assign a different pattern to each time change in the conductor track.
