windows 7 and motu 828mkII
anyone tried this yet? i am downloading windows 7 rc1 now, i have heard things work generally a lot faster, but wondering if anyone has hit any probs with their motu devices (given the amount of problems motu devices have generally on windows).

The Vista 64 drivers work beautifully if you install them in Vista SP1 compatibility mode with administrative privileges.

Re: windows 7 and motu 828mkII
any pops, crackles or bsod's?
ive downloaded the 32bit version of windows 7 - cos i use ableton live, i am not gonna do the jump to 64bit yet.
the only piece of kit i fear is going to have any probs is my motu, cos its been a nightmare in vista so far (most windows users already now the issues motu products have with their pcs).
looking forward to at least a performance boost with windows 7, but am hoping for some better stability as well.

I am having no love with the currently windows 64 bit drivers on Windows 7 RC for my ultralite. Might try virtualizing Vista to get it working until the wave drivers come out.

Well, I'm using 64-bit Win7 with Ableton Live (which runs just fine) and I've had no problems with BSODs, pops or crackles. Just for reference here are my system specs:robleighton22 wrote:any pops, crackles or bsod's?

NVidia 8800GT
Generic PCI firewire card

various MIDI controllers
So far, I've had zero conflicts, and I've been looking for them, so I'd say just go ahead with the install.
When you installed them, did you right click on the .msi and click "Troubleshoot Compatibility"? I found that if you do that, and tell Win7 that it worked under Vista SP1, and that installation will require admin privileges, it works just fine.philedry wrote:I am having no love with the currently windows 64 bit drivers on Windows 7 RC for my ultralite. Re: windows 7 and motu 828mkII
will try this when i get back, thanks for the report. so far i have just upgraded from vista - i think i will do a clean install once ive had an initial play with win 7.
i take it i should uninstall the drivers i do have, then following ur install instructions. what 32-bit drivers do people recommend for this, as i know some of the later versions apparently are more problomatic.

where do i find the .msi file? the driver package only has an installler and .dat file?
also once it is installed just - device manager tells me the motu is setup fine, but i cannot select it under playback options to select it as my default audio device or in ableton, it recognises that the motu exists under asio drivers, but it says it is not connected. any ideas?

Re: windows 7 and motu 828mkII
sorted it - when i tried to do it via right clicking the installer and going through the 'troubleshooting' guide, it wouldn't load the installer. instead, i right clicked it and chose properties and then compatibility (windows vista sp1). however, this is with the latest drivers from the motu website, and i am getting consisting sound dropouts. gonna try an older driver.

What is the rest of your hardware setup? The dropouts may not be due to the driver. I'm using the newest drivers from MOTU and haven't had any issues at all, but ymmv.robleighton22 wrote:sorted it - when i tried to do it via right clicking the installer and going through the 'troubleshooting' guide, it wouldn't load the installer. instead, i right clicked it and chose properties and then compatibility (windows vista sp1). however, this is with the latest drivers from the motu website, and i am getting consisting sound dropouts. gonna try an older driver.

windows 7 rc1
intel dual core 2.2ghz
2gb ram
160gb hdd
geforce 8600gs

i've never not had issues with my motu, although things generally work ok with the asio drivers, i.e using ableton or traktor.

it might just be a crappy onboard usb controller. tried it with a pc card usb controller? i used to have to do that with an old laptop of mine.robleighton22 wrote:its a zoomstorm laptop (quite a random make)
