Problems with ProVerb and DP 6.02

Post by Todzilla »

I was on DP 6.1. Everything seemed to work fine.

Upgraded to DP 6.2. All is cool, MW Limiter cell freeze is there (yay!), except:

ProVertb isn't working. In the impulse response pulldown, it says, "No Impulse Response Loaded." I go to browse through and choose a setting, but none that I select with make this "No Impulse Response Loaded" message go away.

Of course, the DP help has nothing under "impulse" or "response," so I'm in a quandry.

Couldn't find anything about this searching this forum. Am I alone>

Working okay here all along - Have you trashed DP prefs yet?

Look in /Library/Application Support/MOTU/Proverb and see if the "ProVerb Data.bundle" is in there. If it's not, search for it and move it in there.

It may have somehow ended up in your user library: User/Application Support/MOTU/Proverb

Wow, this is getting weirder and weirder.

wurlucki, HD/Library/Application Support/MOTU/Proverb/ProVerb Data.bundle is there as it should be.

bigdaddy, I moved the Prefs file to my desktop, so I am reinitializing Prefs (assume that's how it's done), no difference.

Here's where it gets weird:
  • I can add ProVerb as a plug-in to any existing track and it loads impulse responses, pretty as you please.
  • If I add a new track, then add Proverb as a plug, I cannot add the impulse responses for that track.
  • If I copy an existing track that has ProVerb, it can load impulse responses.
  • The existing track in which I first discovered this problem cannot load impulse responses, even though it existed prior to my upgrade, but that may be because I first discovered the problem here?
I am unable to figure out more subtleties to this pattern. Tracks that were there prior to my 6.02 upgrade can take ProVerb and load impulse responses, but new tracks cannot.

This is driving me crazy, but for existing projects, I suppose I can copy tracks (assuming I have the kind I need) if I need to add ProVerb. For new projects, I'll have to try copying a track from another project.

Not ideal.

Any suggestions? Anyone seen this kind of thing before?

Make sure the new tracks have an output assigned.

If your using aux's make sure they have a buss input assigned and a output.

Yes, even newly created tracks with bus input assigned and output assigned cannot load impulse responses. But I will try to remove input and output assignments from pre-existing tracks to try your theory in reverse...

I've noticed that when I load a Proverb on a AUX track without an input or output assigned it can not load impulses.

Maybe rebuild your bundles.

I've noticed the same thing. Make sure you have an input and output assigned.

I just tried the following in DP 6.02 on a MacBook running OS X 10.5.2:

Create new stereo track - track came up with built-in audio assigned for in/out
reassigned the in/out to none
inserted a ProVerb - proverb came up with no IR loaded
set in/out to built-in audio
ProVerb immediately loaded the default IR - also allowed me to choose other IR's from the factory list.

Did the same with a new Aux track and the ProVerb behaved the same way, once the in/out were assigned.

Unless I missed something, this points to an issue on the machine, and not a bug in DP.

You mentioned having to change something in your login - I wonder if this account does not have admin privileges?

This is a similar problem to what I have encountered, but ProVerb has never worked for me. All the time with the no impulse response load. Error 26. I just upgraded to DP7, and it still doesn't work.
One thing that has also happened in the past few months is everytime I load, I get a dialog box that says "cannot find application bundle" for UniversalUVIplayer. I can't find that bundle on any install disc or online!
