Long Distance Rehearsal and Recording

Post by funkyfreddy »

Hi, I'd like to get a thread going about the brave new world of long distance rehearsal and recording. I have some questions below....

1. What software is best for real time rehearsals?

2. have any of you tried Ejamming?

3. what software is best for long distance recording and collaboration?

4. any suggestions?

5. what do you think the future might hold is this area?

Any musings on the above subjects would be appreciated! Thanks, Fred :)

I was just discussing this with a couple of my long distance band mates the other day. I've been involved with long distance recording for almost eight years, but it's always been a case of me adding drum tracks to files I receive, and not a real time collaboration. We wind up sending a lot of projects back and forth, trying out different parts, which could probably be done more quickly if we could work together in real time.

Someone I work with just downloaded a new app for real time recording but I haven't heard whether or not he's got it working. As soon as I do, I'll let you know. Virtual Glass does look interesting as well, but it's currently limited to Pro Tools, so won't work for me.

There is now an AU version that opens in DP.... I haven't got it up and running yet..... will report back when I have news, although for the moment there is a compatibility issue with my broadband router.

Cheers

Oops, sorry. Missed that. I only watched a video, which didn't mention that it was available yet.
